Adding my NAS pins

Long time no see! I came by to stalk everyone's NAS picks, so I thought I'd reciprocate and share my pins:

Although so far I only have candles and a rayon anorak in my own cart, since I don't really "need" anything and all I Really Truly Want is a pair of mules.

Outfit Backlog

Hi, friends! I wanted to share my outfit backlog with you. Only you ladies can relate to my bootcut/flare experimentation and trying to find a way to wear them that feels like Rae 2015 and not Rae 2000.

We are also having a typical false Spring, so as you can see, I am not so bundled up - having to figure out the SS style too fast... ah, at least I will be ready when the real Spring gets here.

And today I will have to meet with a detective and DA about possibly testifying at a trial. Oy. Got to bust out that business capsule. o_0

Post and run: CSI-Rae

I'm behind with my day, but I wanted to share this outfit, since it's kind of a celebration of an anniversary of sorts. Some of you will remember I had a bad experience a few years back, and I always take time to be grateful for life and limb when the day comes back around. It is no longer a sad day for me, thankfully, in part thanks to the love and support from this forum. XOXO, big time!

Quick Active WIW

Hello! Sneaking in a little YLF time in between movie marathon with DH, since one of my resolutions is to reconnect with this forum. This is one of my recent "activewear" outfits, which I wore riding my bicycle. As you can see, as much as I enjoy the comfort of activewear, I kind of feel conspicuous in a full Activewear Suit.

On a bit of a tangent, I just... preordered the PN coaching program that Suz and others have had such success with. *gulp* I'm terrified of spending on that when I'm so terrible at workout plans, but I have savings and a cash flow, so the little voice inside my head said it would be easier to learn new habits sooner rather than later. o_0 Plus my metabolism has clearly changed and I am in need of a coach. My hope is that by sharing this here I will be accountable to yet another group...

So there you go. I see a lot more clothes doing double duty, and a lot of flea market finds headed toward Ebay in my future.

Have any of your resolutions turned your life upside down?

2014 WIW Retrospective

Here I am joining everyone who has done a look back at ye olde outfits o' 2014.

A bunch of us seem to be on a similar drop-off-the-planet phase of life, and I know that is in no small part to the skills we learned experimenting here. We can finally "get on with it" as Angie would say, and let the clothes do their work while we do ours. :)

2014 saw many changes for me. I went from Corporate-Controlled Retail Sales to Self-Employed, got on medication, got off hormonal birth control, lost weight, gained weight, bought a residence, saw my slouchies turn to skinnies, and saw my clothing budget dwiiiiindle.

Style-wise, I became much more self-conscious about my middle and even more fussy (if you can believe it!) about comfort. Such is what happens when my time is split between closet clean-outs and flea market diving. Aside from that, moving closer to the beach shifted my main style persona from Urban Warrior Princess to Urban Warrior Mermaid! I am loving the organic-inspired prints especially.

One of my main goals for 2015 is to style my flares in a NON 70s way! The other is to find a killer blood red bag. Here's hoping...

Puffer Play

In my last post, I complained that I did not get to wear my puffer, so I took the law into my own hands. Here I am wearing my puffer for a nighttime walk in Redondo, through a great neighborhood that creates tons of fantastic light displays. Just wearing leggings and a thin top underneath. O_O Not so much leggings-as-pants as it is puffer-as-dress.

For those who have known me a while, yes, in fact that is a Jayne/Firefly beanie. Manspiration FTW!

Back in Cali w/ Bday Loot!

Hello, Fabbers! Thank you to everyone who replied on my OT thread last week... it can feel awkward coming back after so long an absence, but I'm glad to not be forgotten. <3

I have been in Missouri with my family, so I didn't take many outfit-specific shots, but I wanted to share some of my bday loot!

I have talked before about my gigantic head, and it turns out I wear the same hat size as Dad. I kept trying his on, so he brought me to pick one out for myself. I tried on lots of Rag & Bone fedoras, but I liked the shorter brim of the men's Pendleton - PSA: if you're looking for a menswear hat, Pendleton and Scala rock, and they're less than 1/2 the price.

Dad was also drawn to fur jackets, and my sister and I both ended up with the Hollister cardigan in the first picture. I couldn't see myself wearing a full-fur bomber that often, and this was a nice hybrid on sale. I love it with my YLF leopard booties.

The yellow wristlet was a gift from my sister - great match for my Kate Spade bag. :)

Pic 2 shows one of the gifts from my (step)Mom, a wonderful mauve scarf from American Eagle. I think she has officially set me off on a mauve kick - I need more! Worn with my Theory pants and Vince scuba (Ebay super score).

Extended and pic heavy account of the trip available on my website if anyone is interested... some really yummy restaurants there!

My only regret... too warm for coat weather! Didn't even wear my puffer. Sigh...

The times, the are a-changin' (for the better)

First of all, big hugs to Una, Marley, Deb, Texstyle, Denise, Vicki and everyone who has reached out to me the past few months. I know I have been a seriously horrid correspondent, but I have read every message and checked out all the suggestions - vitamins, meds, docs...

I'm on new meds, off of hormonal birth control, on yoga (which I could never relax enough to do before the meds)... and off Nordstrom (in less than 2 weeks). I finally felt well enough to make that decision with a clear mind - I always knew I was not a Salesperson 4 Life, and spending more time selling didn't seem like it was moving me toward my goals. I'm going to get a styling certification and then do a combo of freelance styling, ebay selling, and temp work to pay the bills. One of you clever YLFers even suggested Keaton Row, which I'm seriously considering. This should give me more flexibility to make up for lost time with my dad and also stay on my husband's insurance while doing what I'm excited about and focusing on my health.

It's been super hot in LA lately, so here's a very casual pic of an off-duty laundry day outfit: sheer tank, sport bra, bball shorts, and sandals. I'm not a huge fan of my midsection, but for whatever reason, I'm all about the sheer tops this season. I love having a loose fit that doesn't add bulk and volume. These sandals have also been a workhorse, comfortably dressing up sporty elements.

"See" you again soon!

Quick Hello & WIWs

Hello, lovely fashion friends. A few of you have sent really sweet messages, and I know I have not responded to everyone. I am on new meds and feeling things out. Not as sad-sad. But still very in my head and reclusive feeling. I hope I don't lose touch with the group here, though. I have been reading and keeping up with posts and lurking. :) Anyway, just letting you know I am still alive and stuff. Xoxo

Cool-ottes & Crop Top

Wanted to be a little more dressy yet wanted to avoid the warmth of slacks. Enter some $1 culottes. With the linen tank under the thin crop top, this was fairly easy-breezy and comfortable.

As I said in my other thread, it was a really draining day, but it's better to have a draining day in a put-together outfit.

Some may prefer culottes that are baggier in the hip and seat, and I did pick up a pair of denim ones, but I am not reaching for them. DH says those loose ones remind him of frumpy people in ill-fitting crop pants. Probably would be better in a dressy fabric if I want to go super loose.
