WIW: My Boyfriend as a Preppy Pirate

#1-2 is what I'm wearing to my friend's house to help her shake up her closet. She's awesome and has agreed to let me feature her on my shopping website whenever I get that going. I think it will be a fun day for both of us - she is looking to bring her funky street style into her office wardrobe and also see if she can style things a la Mad Men - could I ask for a more fun and guinea pig?

#3 is the version I wore to the swap meet in the morning, since I needed to be a little warmer.

DH said to me as I got dressed, "You've been wearing those jeans a lot lately. You do know you don't look as good as normal in them, right?"

I told him I knew he'd say that, and that yes, I am aware they aren't "sexy jeans." He seemed to accept this explanation - so beware, regardless of the official style name of Sexy Boyfriends, it seems some men don't find them very sexy!

I am wearing them anyway. :)

WIW: I surrender!

Today I have a day at the office and then DH and I are meeting for an advanced screening of Total Recall afterward, so I had to bring a change of clothes with me - the office A/C has not been working properly lately, but no way would I survive a cold theater in a skirt and breezy top.

Normally, I'd want to wear this waist-surrendering poncho with a slim, tapered skirt - or at least pants fitted to the knee - but I was feeling very loosey goosey this morning. Waist surrender *and* knee surrender won out. Caution: thrown to the wind! Or it would be if there was any semblance of such an airflow in the office today...

For the movie, I brought along my new Gap Sexy Boyfriend jeans. Some of you mentioned in Angie's BF jeans blog post that this style hides a perfectly good tush - so I guess I'm adding "butt surrender" to the list for the day. ;)

WIW: Deploying scrunch & skirt from the Angie arsenal

#3 Yesterday, I wore this fab striped Ralph Lauren shirt that I scored at the YLF swap party - only fitting to use Angie's scrunch strategy for the sleeves.

#1-2 Today, I'm finally implementing an idea I had ages ago when Angie posted her Dressy Skirt and Denim Jacket formula. I went hunting for an office-appropriate, denim jacket substitute, but came up short until - again - the YLF swap. MaryK, I cannot stop wearing this jacket! Look, the collar even stays popped! Rounding out the outfit is another YLF nod in a $1 watch purchased at the San Diego flea market.

My own touch? The watch doesn't work, and I don't intend to try and fix it! DH and I both use watches as bracelets nowadays. I always had difficulty telling time, anyway. ;)
