$1 Khaki Test Drive

I never found the perfect pair of khakis, so when I found a pair at the flea market, I figured I could experiment with those instead of experimenting with a not quite right pair at retail price. Styled based on a Pinspiration oufit.

Phone battery is low, but I will come back and read forum posts tonight!

They look great, and only $!? WOW!

These look pretty great - and the CPW may end up being like what 1 cent? I've been looking (like Suz) for a great pair of taupe toned jeans and have come up empty after many searches.

Slouchy, good fit on you. I think they are keepers if you like 'em. The material looks substantial, which might wear nicely over time.

Nice fit & I like the colour.

I think they look great on you.  However, may I suggest a different jacket?  In the picture the pants, bag and footwear look like "muddy" or "soft" colors while the navy and white stripe blazer is very crisp, or clear and bright.  Stylistically I get the RATE preppy thing going on here and from that standpoint the jacket works.  It's just the colors that bug me but maybe it's the photography.

Nice pants! Yes, I wholeheartedly agree that when you can't find what you're looking in retail, that is the time to look at the second-hand stuff. Great for experimenting on the cheap. You're rocking those khakis Rae!

Love.  Now I want to go thrift a pair.

    Love them too!

I love it! And -- although it's tough to tell for sure -- I think I want to disagree with Denise about the jacket. I actually like the high contrast B&W with the softer elements. I might like it less IRL, because I do have a sensitivity to that kind of thing, too. But in the photo, against the yellow background...it looks really cool.

Thanks for looking, everyone, and I'm glad these don't look awful to your eyes! They are genuine men's jeans (high five, Claire!) and are very soft and comfy with little stretch and high cotton content.

Denise, that's interesting, since bright colors with muddy colors is one of my favorite things to do. I rarely like an outfit for myself that is all bright/graphic. Although maybe you have a point since the inspiration pin shows a white tee.

Great find! Interesting comment by Denise, which I will think about, but my first impression was very positive.

Rae, this is fabulous. I like your version better than the inspiration. I'm not usually a fan of khaki trousers, but these were a find and look like a great fit.

Ooh they remind me of my skinny Acne khakis.

I like the pants and the jacket - not sure about the top. I love that there are fellow thrifters sharing their finds in this forum.
