Anyone moving their blog to YLF?

I only started blogging recently, so maybe this doesn't apply to the rest of you... I have recently wondered if maybe I should start doing my onedollarwonders posts here instead of at blogger. Most of my readership is you guys, anyway, and if I'm *already* here posting WIWs, it would save time to just write up the full one-dollar details at the same post.

Would there be any drawbacks to this? I suppose if my blog became blindingly popular or something I would not be able to "monetize" the blog as I could on blogger. But I don't know how much sway that has with me. Anything else? Thoughts?

This post is also published in the youlookfab forum. You can read and reply to it in either place. All replies will appear in both places.

Hmm...I am going to have to think about this. I agree with you that if you are not looking to be a "power" blogger that makes money off it, then why not.

    I'll get back to you...

I am very interested to know what people think of this question. Not because we'd like everyone to move their blog to lookfab.com, but rather because we'd like to build whatever makes the most sense. Whether you choose to have one blog or two (or three!), we'd like to support you well.

One feature we have in mind is a simple "My Other Blog is a <insert something here>" badge, like those bumper stickers.

Maybe we also need an easy way to pull YLF content into another blog on tumblr or blogger.

That said, in lookfab.com we want to create the easiest, best way to create an outfit or style-focused blog.

Bottom line: if you have ideas, we'd love to hear them.

Personally, I find that two blogs works well for me. I have http://ylfoto.lookfab.com as my YLF photo blog, but when I write something industry related it goes on http://expletiveinserted.com. These two represent very different content for (mostly) different audiences, so I think this makes sense.

Finally, we haven't figured out exactly how it will work, but we do want to make it possible for lookfab.com bloggers who are "blindingly popular" to monetize their blogs. We are hoping to leverage our relationship with premium ad networks to create a program that will allow lookfab.com bloggers to get BEAUTIFUL ads on their blogs in a very easy way (if they choose to do so!). It is so easy for shoddy ads to lower the tone of a site, and we'd like to help our bloggers get beyond that as we figure it out for YLF.

Thanks, Greg! A lot of great info in there. Your point about your other blog makes sense - I had initially thought that YLFers wouldn't be so interested in DIY projects and things like that, but it turns out that that is not the case. So really I may not have much reason to maintain two blogs. Currently, the only real difference between mine would be that onedollarwonders points out stuff that I got for one dollar.

Thanks also for letting me know about future monetizing possibilities. I can't forsee how many will read my blog, but there's always the "I don't want to miss out" feeling that nags in the back of my head.

Wow, what Greg and Angie wan to do sound great. I do see the only down side as the potential for you to want to discuss something else beside fashion or make up. Otherwise, I think it is fabulous and would be a great way to drive more traffic to you and potentially here.

I"m really happy to have a YLF Blog but i also really love my blog on blogger too. Even if i never becoming blindingly popular i enjoy the control i have over customizing on blogger and sometimes i need to post things that are not also meant to be forum threads.

But because i sell stuff online i mainly needed a "central hub" to connect those worlds and tie it together with WIW posts and on YLF i don't start threads about things i'm selling because it feels spam-y to me and i don't want to annoy anyone.

    These are my thoughts. :)

I'm moving my blog over completely as soon as the feature where readers can subscribe is implemented. A few of my friends aren't on YLF and they like to look at my photos, and they all subscribe via e-mail or a reader. But I like the LookFab blog format because I don't feel as much pressure to post new outfits every week. At this point, I'm just posting outfits mostly for fun and to participate on YLF. I'd rather only post really good photos of my favorite outfits, and a lot of things have to come together to make that happen, so I'll probably only post a few times a month. And then I don't have to cross-post on my blog and on the forum like I sometimes do now.

Ana, I'm glad I'm not the only one considering this - part of me feels I'm being disloyal to my little blogger blog, but I do feel I've been cross-posting as well.

Hm, what else would I post about besides clothes, hair, makeup? Just the band, I guess, but that isn't relevant to onedollarwonders, either.
