Blushing Tiger, Hidden Agenda

I have been sitting on my this blush/gray striped skirt for months and months now. I got it to replace a gray/black striped tube skirt that was terribly pilled, but somehow this one did not function the same way. Nothing I tried with it seemed to feel right.

I belatedly have realized that 1) I generally don't feel as great in a column of light color as I do in a column of dark color and 2) I like my light colors much better when there is some kind of dark print involved (e.g. the black stripe in the original gray tube skirt). Anyway, this black top with light/pale colors seemed to be just the thing. I will have to remember to keep an eye out for more contrasting prints so that I can wear them with either type of bottom.

In other news, the reason I was asking for good thoughts the other day is that DH and I had just put in an offer on a condo! The offer was accepted, the inspection is finished, and we're in escrow. Twice the size of our current place, in a really nice location, and our monthly expenses will be lowered. We are both on kind of high strung, half expecting something to still derail this, but we are allowing some excitement to creep in around the edges. Oh, and I would have two large closets and an extra shoe closet all to myself. :)  Hopefully talking about this the night before a major holiday will reduce the possibility of a jinx, because I really needed to let all that out! *knocks on wood, throws salt over shoulder, and crosses self*

Nice! Very interesting about the column of colour... I think I feel the same way.

And it's... decorating time! I love decorating time :D

Love the title, love the outfit!  So exciting about the condo and especially -- the closet part.  Congratulations on reaching a major life milestone.

Congrats on the condo! I know when I moved to L.A. a huge part of what sold me on the apartment I'm in was the size of the walk in closet. So extra-congrats on getting a place with lots of closet space.

Love the outfit and especially coveting that tiger blouse!

Looks great! Its good that you will keep in mind that you prefer more contrast, but you look fab in anything you wear.
Congrats and all the best on the condo!
Rae, does your skirt's hem roll up on itself when you walk? Does that bother you? I got a nice black tube skirt with polka dots but the hem is raw and it roll up and outward and I can see the light colored wrong side of the favric and it really bugs me...
Your skirt is in a light color so maybe if the hem rolls it is less noticeable.

    Love that shirt!

Congrats on the condo -- that is what I thought was going on when I saw your pins and your earlier post! It's nerve-wracking but exciting, isn't it?

  • harmonica replied 10 years ago

Love the way you analyze and move on. Great outfit!

Congrats on the condo!! So happy for you and the exciting time ahead when the migration to the closet starts.

Congrats on the condo....so exciting!! One of the selling points for me in our current house was my closet so I understand that appeal. And you've got such a great wardrobe to fill that space!

  • Thistle replied 10 years ago

Beautiful outfit and great analysis on why it finally worked.

Congrats of the condo! Keeping my fingers crossed for you. It sounds like a fabulous place!

  • LACeleste replied 10 years ago

  • carambola replied 10 years ago

Love the top/booties pairing! Congrats on the condo - very exciting! Keeping fingers crossed for you.

Fun title, you are so witty! I can't see the tiger on your top, but tigers like to be hidden so I understand. Unlike tiggers, but I digress. You look very nice, congrats on straying out of your comfort zone.

All the best wishes and good luck on the condo! How exciting!

  • Mochi replied 10 years ago

How exciting about the condo! It is normal to be anxious, and it's even normal for things NOT to go smoothly. No matter what, you will eventually settle into a better place. But let's hope this one works out : P

I love the epiphanies too. I often wish we would have them sooner. But we have to earn them, it seems.

  • Aubergine replied 10 years ago

Crossing my fingers on the condo too! The extra shoe closet sounds especially nice.

And you look great! Good solution to making the pale print feel more like you.

  • Parsley replied 10 years ago

Your outfit is all kinds of wild animal fun! You look adorable.
That's fantastic news about the condo! I had sort of guessed from the decorating pictures on Pinterest. I hope it works out for you!

  • Debra replied 10 years ago

Congratulations :) and you look fabulous, I love how you have mixed your prints.

  • Neel replied 10 years ago

Genius post title!! You are looking great ... And congratulations!! A shoe closet for yourself sounds fun :)

  • DonnaF replied 10 years ago

Very exciting!  But the big question is:  Will you have a good place to snap WIWs?!?

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Thank you to all who commented! It is so nice to share the excitement with people who aren't also stressed and/or asking me to print out financial records, lol.

Rachy, can you believe I have never Officially Decorated anything since my bedroom in high school? I just kept thinking, "Bah, I'll only be here a short time." We thought that about our current place, too, but we were here 10 years!

Joyce, this skirt does not have an unfinished hem... I do think that would bother me. I think all my tube skirts either have a finished or a bubble hem.

Marianna, good luck! Yes, it is quite stressful. We even had a very heated discussion about where the couch would go if we decided to make an offer. o_0 I hope your hunt is going more smoothly. ;)

Julie, here's a tiger pic from when I first got the top - definitely not a Tigger! :)

Nancy, yes! Earn them we do. Thank you for the words of wisdom about expecting some little snafus... hopefully it will save me some restless nights.

Donna, that is a great question! We have some nice, big windows, but I think they face N and S. Hopefully indirect light will be ok. Or maybe out on the balcony like Anna does? If nothing else, I can continue to put the phone on my car like I do now.

Good luck with the condo! Love that satchel.

  • viva replied 10 years ago

Love the pattern mixing, and the great news about your new closets. I mean, condo! :)

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

What a beautiful solution to your orphaned skirt!  Love the mix here.

And best wishes on your home purchase!  How exciting!

  • crutcher replied 10 years ago

Love, love, love the tiger print...The condo will be exactly, precisely, positively yours...if it is meant to be...
