Change is in the air!

1) I have an appointment at an actual HAIR SALON today at 6pm! I tried to clean up my ends and bangs last night and felt like Ms. Frump Central 2012. I am not going for a huge change, but this is my first time in a salon in 10 years. :0

2) Unless all goes wrong with DH at home, we will be going to Italy at the end of March - Squeeeee! Rome, Florence, and Venice. Turns out to be the perfect week to go, since my boss will be gone, too. This is part of the inspiration for the haircut - I don't want to be the most unkempt person in Italy.

Now all I need to do is think up a couple of possible souvenirs to put on my radar. There is a leather market in Florence, as well as a few secondhand shops. I need to choose shopping destinations wisely, since I do need to pay Hubs *most* of my attention. ;)

SUPER EXCITED for all of it. Fingers crossed that I don't leave the salon with a mullet or something awful...

Haircuts do amazing things! Like gluing your hands to your hair marvelling over its awesomeness and making you strut while swinging your hair like you're in a Pantene commercial :)

Also, Venice. Jealousy. Supreme supreme jealousy. I shall live vicariously through you.

Oh, Rae, you will look Euro Chic, as you find romantic spots with "Hubs" in all those gorgeous cities (of course, I've never been there, but it's on my list!) and enjoy exciting shopping destinations. Please post a photo as soon as you can! Ciao, Baby!

Thanks, ladies! Honestly, I am getting nervous, cold feet about my hair as it inches closer to appointment time. You'd think I was about to shave my head...

Can't wait to see the results. I'm sure you'll look gorgeous as always.

Super excited for you about Italy too!

    Sounds great!

PM me if you need an address for a nice B and B in Florence - we stayed there last fall and were very happy with it.

I will say that I ended up not doing any shopping in Italy but we also had very little time. I could not make up my mind about Murano glass items in Venice, and the leather markets in Florence were too overwhelming (looked like a combination of a fleamarket and a Wilson's leather store). But with your gift for finding treasures, you'll probably do really well and find some great stuff there.

Oh yay, a haircut for you too today! Ten years out a salon is a long time. I hope it goes well, and I'm sure your tresses will look terrific. Post pics ASAP. We will be on pins and needles!

I love going to the hair salon. I like being pampered and having someone else wash and dry my hair. I don't usually make drastic changes - just a trim or some highlights, but I still love going. I hope your appointment is successful and you love the results.

Italy is wonderful! Good luck/hope your haircut went well!

I went to Italy in 1996 ( my twin went with her husband on their honeymoon and his sister and I went along as part of the bridal party). It was truly magical. You are going to love it so much!

Hey Rae, Zap just posted this on my thread and I told her I'd pass it along to you:

"Rae - completely off topic, since your hair is so beautiful as is, but I would love to see you on something like this, in your natural hair color:"

Such excitement! I can't wait to see the hair.

When you are in Florence, you must go to this restaurant - it's cheap, delicious, and authentic:

So exciting to have finally made your choice, Rae! And going so soon too! I feel like squealing with joy, and you're the one going... :-D

  • rae replied 12 years ago

Manidipa, thank you! Fate had a big hand in the decision - it was too good a deal to pass up, what with seeing all three cities and all. This is lucky for me, since I am one of those people who takes 20 minutes to choose between "plain" and "vanilla" flavors at the yogurt shop! I don't know what I would have done to choose a destination based on interest alone.
