Diamonds Are Whenever

Sorry to post a blurry pic and run, but I spent most of today driving to and from a bridal shower - with 2 hours each way, I spent more time on the road than at the party. :(

But I loved my outfit! H&M dress (I keep thinking of it as my "dark crystals" dress) with gold and white accessories. I'm glad I brought this shrug, too, because it was windy outside where the seats were set up.

Tangent: I am also sporting imPRESS by Broadway press-on nail polish on my fingers and toes. I have had terrible luck with every kind of polish and topcoat at work. Everything chips within hours of thumbing through hangers, but these have stayed on very nicely for about 5 days now. Not like a traditional press-on nail... I'd say it's more like a press-on gel manicure...? But anyway, I want more.

H&M dress - H&M
Hollywould sandals - handed down
BP necklace - Nordies via Una!
Jessica Howard shrug - Macy's
Chainmail watch - custom made gift from a friend

You look gorgeous! I love your look in these pretty sandals and dress. A different side of your style than we usually see.

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

This is a different style than your usual, Rae, and looks very pretty and elegant - and your toes look fab!

You look great. Love your sandals and dress.

I can see why you loved this Rae - I mean, you look beautiful!  Love the colors - the gold is unexpected for me because I always fall-back to "safe silver" whenever I'm not sure how to accessorize.  Also - great nails!  I've never heard of them, but because I'm a painted nail maniac, I'm going to have to check them out. :-)

This is so pretty.  You look so elegant!

I love the colors. Can you do a post with close-ups of the nails?

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Thanks, everyone! The shower was a dressy tea party theme, so I didn't want to offend my friend's future MIL by doing anything rugged.

Marley and Adelfa, here's a pic of the nails - this color is called Dark & Stormy. It is a very dark burgundy with a very subtle glitter. Kind of like the shimmer on a bowling ball or in metallic car paint.

I didn't see it was you who posted this as I am not wearing any lenses or reading glasses. Therefore my vision is also blurry, like your picture. LOL
Still I picked it out as "interesting". And it is. Such a great dress, lucky you to find it. The little cardigan goes very well with it.

Very pretty dress. And it's very considerate of you to think about your friend's family.

Where did you find the stick-on nails?

  • lyn67 replied 10 years ago

Aw, this is a great dress! Love it, as it's not RATE, but the pattern is so Rae!
    "Shine on you craaaazy, diamonds":-)

ETA: Oh, and thanks for the fake nail tip...I never have the time to do mines, so will give them a try: I found them on ebay and would like to buy a set of french manicure(is it named "Pick me", "On Fire" or "Rock it"?). I have wide nails(my thumbnail is 16x18mm), do you think they will fit? also 18mm long is short or merdium size? Thanx for the help!

So pretty!  Isn't it fun to dress up a little?  And thanks for the mani tip -- oh wait -- did I just kind of sort of make an accidental pun?

BTW Dark and Stormy is also the name of a famous Bermuda cocktail -- Ginger beer and Gosling's dark rum.  Very tasty!  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_%27N%27_Stormy

Lyn, I think they may work for you! There were sizes in the box that were too bif for me; they have a good variety...12 size options across five fingers.

Denise - hehe mani tip! I gotta check out that recipe.

Rae, I love this!  The dress is just fab, fab, fab!  And your nails look great.  Where does one acquire those stick-on dealy-bobs?

  • Ornella replied 10 years ago

    Very pretty. I love it.

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

Lovely dress.  A nice departure from your usual more rugged style.  You do chic well!  Fun nails, I've never heard of them before.

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Thanks, ladies - I really love this look and hope to wear it again when I need to get fancy.

Mary, it looks like the sell 'em at Wallmart, CVS, Walgreens, Kmart, and RiteAid. Printable $1-off coupons here! It is Day 6, and they are still going strong.
