Draped and Confused

I have had the yen to wear shorter skirts, so when my BFF offered me this dress, I gleefully accepted. It has draping under the arm area that I am not used to, but I am enjoying a change from more bodycon dresses.

The confusion came a bit after I got dressed today. Angie's voice was ringing my ears when I was unsure what to pair with it, and then the classic button front jumped out of the closet. But after I had everything on, I felt very bank appropriate. Hmmmm... That has never exactly made me happy before. I also notice that I have very little interest in either pair of my slouchy silk pants. It seems my style is still not done evolving for the year. I am curious to see where it takes me.

Tangent: these Frye Julia boots turned out to be great for work! I had been scared to wear them but, even though they are higher than other heels, they are among the most comfy. Woohoo!

You look the furthest thing from "bank-y". I LOVE the classic b/down with the frock and boots! The electric blue is charming, and so are you. This is Modern. And what 2013 is all about. Well done :)

This is not boring bank-y at all! It is gorgeous. The boots add in the UWP in a great way.

If the girls at my bank were dressed like this I think my jaw would hit the floor!  Not banker-like at all.  Very cool though, fashion forward and fun!

This outfit is so interesting to me! The boots manage to look both refined and ? whatever is more road warrior-ish. Just super. The whole outfit is great.

I don't see banker here at all! Fab blue and love it with the boots!

Oh, and I was at the bank today. No one, and I mean no one, came close to the style quotient of this outfit!

LOVE the mix of classic (button down) and rugged (boots). It's a combination you wear incredibly well Rae. Also love the colour combo of black, cobalt and white. Gorgeous outfit!

I have to swim against the tide. I think I'd like a silkier blouse better, with the draped arms.

Versatile, vibrant and very flattering.  The boots keep it "you."

I am with Raisin, still trying to wrap my head around the difference between this amazing outfit and what I actually see at my local bank. All I can say is the LA banker girls do it better if this is what they wear!

If you scrunch the sleeves will it feel less bankesque to you? You look great but need to feel great too. Love your title and your boots!

Thanks everyone for the reassurance. I don't really think of this as a Typical Banker's Outfit so much as an Outfit Rae Would Have Worn to the Bank. I  guess I must have been more of a rebel than I knew! After leaving that job, I think I must have had a moment of over-adjustment when I wanted to be super RATE and casual just because I could. Hopefully I am now finding some kind of equilibrium.

Cute outfit, Rae. I love the boots.

Lovely outfit here.  The boots make it fun and less "classic." I like the mix of fun boots against the timeless items here.

A very gorgeous and "very Rae" outfit. Polished to perfection.
As for looking "banky", the outfit says, "Your loan is approved, sir."  And the boots say, "And you will make ALL your payments, ON TIME!!"

I love how you have styled it. The drape of the dress if very cool and the boots to die for. This is so fantastic!
