Dressed With a Measure of Dread

Two meetings today. Won't be consistently busy, but there will be a lot of work at the last minute before each - that's just how it goes. Geared up with power boots, wood grain print silk top, pattern mixed with plaid blazer. I think my apprehension/dread comes across in the outfit, though that was an accident.

Silence & Noise Blazer - $1 via swap meet
Silk Wood Print Top - $0.50 via swap meet
Bloomingdales wool skirt - $1 via swap meet
Blue bag - via Goodwill and dyed
Frye boots - via Dillard's sale
Cougar Pendant - via Etsy, part of gift

This outfit is fab Rae - does not look like dread at all! I love the blue bag for colour and those boots are beyond amazing on you! Hope your day goes ok!

Rae, you look great! I love the UWP boots on you. Wow. And yes, the outfit does evoke a sort of end-of-the-world apprehension, somehow. Urban grit, but in a very ladylike way!

You look great! I love the blue bag with your outfit. Maybe it would be fun to work in a cobalt accessory for when you're not carrying your bag.

Thanks, all! The morning madness is over - whew, but it was a solid hour of gogogodoitnowbutfaster the minute I walked in the door. I can relax for a bit before the afternoon meeting, thankfully. I will be wearing this outfit again, as the soft, loose top is very comfy but still dressy. Next time maybe I'll use my tomato red or lemon yellow bag for a bit more pep. :)

Dottie, that is a good idea - this would have been a great neutral outfit for a colorful brooch or necklace. Hm, I'll have to see if I have any!

Natalie, these boots are my pride and joy ATM. I smile every time I put them on, and they bring a bit more joy into my life by making me happy to see in-between Spring temps.

Go get 'em...rest assured that you look fab!

Need to give my Julias one more outing before it gets too warm here...

Rae, I LOVE that blazer! This whole outfit is divine, especially the proportions. You look prepared for anything, and it sounds like it went well.

  • Diana replied 12 years ago

Fantastic! I love how it invokes the post-apocalyptic while still being polished.

  • Joy replied 12 years ago

Wonderful outfit, powerful but ladylike too. I want a closeup of the cougar pendant.

  • krishnidoux replied 12 years ago

Rae, I always admire your style, but this is ...WOW! The boots are so perfect here!

  • rae replied 12 years ago

For Joy: a pic of the cougar skull necklace - for Christmas, I got a matching set for my dad and me (cougars were a childhood fixation of mine and dad has some UWP style, too).

Made by The Pewter Wolf on Etsy.

You look ready to stop apprehensions and deadlines and objections in the dust! :-p FABULOUS outfit, Rae. I love how it is structured without being restrictive at all, making for a very energetic vibe.

  • Mo replied 12 years ago

Awesome!! I hope to get half as much wear out of my Julia's that you seem to be! Who knew they could be banker appropriate?! :) I'm intrigued by the wood grain print but can't quite make it out.

  • CocoLion replied 12 years ago

I just love any work outfit you create around these boots Rae. They are such a perfect way to add interest and creativity to your work looks. This is one of my favorites!

  • rae replied 12 years ago

Ah, I knew I should have taken a close up of the top! I will do so when I get home.

Only about 2 hours more, then I can be done and race home to my paprika Scottvest trench!!

  • Isis replied 12 years ago

Wow, love this! Love how the grey of the boots echos the grey of the jacket; similarly the crisscrossing laces echo the plaid.....

    wonderful!

  • greenglove replied 12 years ago

You look smashing. Those boots are so perfect with that length skirt. Love the blue bag!!

  • MNsara replied 12 years ago

Your work outfit is perfect: you say it's comfy, but it sure looks competent and professional - in a non-traditional way ;-)

Stil lusting after your incredible boots. . .

  • rachylou replied 12 years ago

I really like your wood print top. It's definitely cool and what a steal!

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

Love you in the outfit and those incredible boots. You should name them like Claire has a name for her purse! (Or do you call them Julia) Seriously, those boots look so gorgeous on you!

  • christy replied 12 years ago

You look AMAZING! I love this outfit - those boots are fabulous!

  • christieanne replied 12 years ago

Wood grain print? That sounds utterly cool.
Looking like you own the world and have no worries :)
