Favorite Colors for Favorite Weather + Should I go back for this?

This time, I managed to blend into the fence *and* the asphalt! I am taking the camo theme to a whole new level here.

Just a cozy combo for my yearly physical exam. Threw my long black trench over the top for walk from parking garage to keep my beloved citron cashmere out of the rain.

Afterward, I stopped into Marshall's and came across the Ralph Lauren jacket in the exact same shade of citron as my sweater. It's a packable windbreaker, no hood. I would resell the lemon yellow jacket in 3 if I wanted to go back and get the citron one. EDIT to address some of the comments - pic 2 is kind of distorted by gross store lighting. The color is much more like the sweater in #1.

Pros for lemon are that it is breathable cotton with awesome lobster clasps. Cons are that it is really thick and heavy (negating the breathability a bit, since I can't wear much in summer) and has a brown collar which keeps the flattering yellow color away from my face.

Pros for the citron are that it is citron, light and packable, water-resistant, easier to style, and selling the other one would pay for it and then some. Cons are that it is obviously not cotton as a windbreaker, and it's more of a ubiquitous style.

I like your existing one. Probably because back in college I had a similar coat that I called my fireman's jacket.

I like the colour of the new one, I agree the brown on your existing is a bit jarring. If you would wear the new one more and love it, that would probably be my choice. But I am trying to not have primary donnas (or more realistically limit the number of them) in my closet.

I think your existing one is more interesting in style, and frankly more flattering to your skin tone -- but only you know if it's not as wearable as this new potential replacement. And if you really love the citron color (in store photos don't always give the best representation due to poor lighting) you shoud go with your gut.

I really like your existing one..I also think that they are so different (not only looks but what u describe) that you could own them both!

  • Kristin SF replied 11 years ago

I agree with memel, sorry to enable. They seem like different seasons, almost, so I would keep both.

But then again, I have a serious problem with jackets. :-)

I like your new one more; the colour is a lot more sunny and warm (like you!) - I think the old one looks like gear.

well I prefer the existing one much more. It's just a photo but the dark of the brown seems to contribute to framing your face and also it seems to hang and drape much better, shows you off more.

I love your existing jacket. The citron one seems utterly forgettable.

  • moira replied 11 years ago

I don't see why this is an either/or proposition. Even though both are yellow, they are really very different and will likely serve different functions in your wardrobe.

If I had to pick just one, I prefer your current one.

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

I prefer the current one too.

    KILLER camo look today :)

I like the one in number 2, love the camo outfit, so cool!

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Citron looks especially cheerful paired with olive! I MUCH prefer your existing yellow jacket :)

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

I'm sorry --- couldn't help but get a grin from "ubiquitous style." I also prefer your original, except for travel, in which case the packability would be great.

Is this my citron cashmere sweater? I don't think mine has the side slits! In any case I love it (of course) and am totally going to enable you on the jacket.

My sweater has started to pill! Though I've only had it dry cleaned. What gives....? Is this happening to you?

#3 is so much better. It looks SO much like you and it is so stylish. The brown is absolutely an advantage near your face--there's enough color all around to balance it. If you can have both, maybe so, but you can't send #3 back!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Una, YES! I just noticed it today while out and about and tried to tell myself it was just "frizzy" from the rain. Boooo for pilling!!

  • Day Vies replied 11 years ago

Rae you are an inspiration! I am totally not a fan of camo but you make me want a pair of camo pants and coordinating boots. It's so fresh and cute on you!

I like the one in the store better -- I like the low contrast.

Your outfit today is so fun, and I love that citron color on you. Plays so beautifully with your skin and hair.

I really like your current jacket. It is unique and interesting. The new one is nice, but. Wouldn't replace your existing one with it.

  • rae replied 11 years ago

The comments have surprised me, since I ordered the current jacket against the advice of the forum. Interesting! After walking out in the rain today in my poly lined trench, I'm beyond done with things that Don't breathe... No good to be dry outside if you are sweaty underneath! I'm staying away from the new one and may still pass on the current one based on wearability.

I'm late to the party but I like the new one much better!

  • jayne replied 11 years ago

I am late to the party also but wanted to comment the outfit! How did you think up the yellw and cami together? It so works, but I would never have considered it!
