I just can't get enough...

... of my True Religion Cameron boyfriend jeans. I'm totally in love with the comfort, drape, and destroyed wash. So now that I have a day off, here they are again. In yet another casual outfit - at least I left off the trench this time.

I pulled out my Victoria's Secret convertible jacket. When I worked at the bank, I would only wear this with dresses due to the cropped length, but the white in the jeans allowed for a column-of-color-like light vertical continuum, which I thought worked almost as well. Since DH and I were off to play with an RC car today, I did not want to carry my usual size of bag. Instead, I baptized my souvenir from my Dad's wedding: this Nine West Mini Tech Crossbody. I could not for the life of me find the striped version online, but here it is in orange

I know it's a good piece, because even my furdaughter could not stay away. ;)

I find it so interesting that, while I love pretty much everything in my closet, there are some things, like the jeans, that I could almost wear every day. This is a fairly new phenomenon for me. The jeans, my brown trench, my Report booties... is this how one ends up with a small wardrobe? Lack of variety still scares me a bit, but perhaps it would not scare me as much if everything were this easy and mentally comfortable to wear.

Aside: Holy cats, am I glad I ordered my jeans early or what? I can't believe how much the price jumped up!

Love this look Rae! And your cat is a dead ringer for my tabby-girl Tia!

  • Runcarla replied 10 years ago

    # 1 is total 'Rae on her day off!'

Meet 'Little Cat'. DH thought this was funny, a female in the mail box. Would you believe that she is 18 years old?

Love those jeans so much - I wish I could dress like this all the time too.  Sadly it's not even remotely practical in my climate.  IT SNOWED TODAY.

    Those jeans love you back!
  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago
I especially love the purse (I love a navy and white stripe). You do destroyed jeans so well!
  • Aida replied 10 years ago
Me neither! They look super awesome on you, and I can't believe there was a chance these would've gone back. Super cute with the mini xbody, great little sporty-luxe touch.

(Fun RC car! We have a close friend who used to race RC cars, and now does RC helicopters. The remotes get ridiculously complicated. I also find your hubby's GTA tee weirdly appropriate for the occasion ;) )

Love!! Those jeans are fantastic on you. But then I would say that, since in addition to being Siamese twins, we are fraternal Cameron twins. Oh, and fraternal Report twins, too! And Danier cousins.

Those jeans look so awesome on you! I see why you like wearing them so much. I think the column of color works, and the jacket looks fab.

The purse is swooning! I love the crisp stripes, and it is a nice juxtaposition against the destroyed jeans.

Your fur daughter is beautiful! And has good taste in purses. :)

That's a great casual look, Rae!

Linus says "hai" to your tabbygirl.  (He loves Downton Abbey.)  That really is our tv -- it's probably older than you are, Rae!

I  love it, Rae! You look FAB.  I know exactly what you mean about the well-loved wardrobe. It is a little scary to have many fewer items, but there is also something amazingly fabulous about feeling like you can wear anything there and be happy and feeling like you could wear them day in, day out.  I try to keep that idea in mind when I'm buying new things. (A very new approach for me!) There is something powerful about being able to walk away from an item that is lovely and useful, but you know won't be 100% love. Such a great feeling.

I agree with kcs - that's where I want my wardrobe to be:) I've realised I'd much rather have fewer & better than lots of choice that is meh.

    YLF in this look:)
  • catgirl replied 10 years ago
Something I think Caro said recently (or who followed up on her thread with a new one?) really resonated with me, and I came up with the thought that I want to "narrow down, and expand within".  In other words, fewer looks, but more breadth within those choices.  Not sure that even makes sense.  Not exactly formulas.  I just feel like I've come around to the same old me, only MUCH better and more practiced - have gone through and discarded many personas.  Now down to two: UWP and androgynous cool, or something like that.  And there's so much room within those categories to winnow further.  Same with colors - smaller color palette is where I see myself headed.

Sorry am talking like a robot - feeling mildly brain damaged today.  Just wanted to say I totally get what you mean about certain well loved items. ;)

You rock those jeans, girlfriend! It is totally worth the cost when it becomes a wardrobe workhorse, an item you love to wear. You'll bring the cost per wear down to nothing in no time!
  • Jaime replied 10 years ago
Definitely worth wearing as frequently as you want - and I thought your cat was wearing your purse. I am not totally awake yet apparently.

Yay, look at all the fur babies!

Carla, Little Cat is adooorable. She looks much younger than 18, wow! I hope Chester looks that good.

Aida, totally. I cannot believe they were boxed up for return! Hehe, I didn't even notice DH's shirt - he will get a kick out of that. :)

Suz, that's right, isn't it? I don't think about it much, but I have such a YLF-influenced wardrobe now. Una's boots and citron sweater, Ceit's top, your blouse and booties, Denise's jeans, the Ella Moss jacket, MaryK's ombre skinnies, same Bebe jacket and Anthro top as Vicki... so nice to have all the inspiration right at my fingertips.

Ali, I hope Linus isn't wondering when the "Downtown Tabby" is going to make an appearance in the show! Too cute!

K, I agree. That well-it's-nice-but-not-better-than-mine feeling is a great shopping deterrent. Here's to more of the same!

Una, yes, I know what you mean. It is nice to narrow everything down even further, get things clear and concise. Like crafting a really economical sentence. I will be taking notes as you create your new work wardrobe!

Looks great!  And the pic of DH with the toy cracks me up, although I can't say why.  Maybe because he looks seriously hip and seriously playing with his gadget both at the same time.
