Idle hands part deux: Desigual Wantsies

I stop by these websites every now and again to see if any of their great prints feel like me - and woah! They have so much gorgeous stuff right now!

I really really like #1, but I have a lot of coats nowadays. I wonder if this could be used as a dress?

There was Desigual stuff all over Hawai'i in little boutiques - I refrained only because I couldn't get enough beach time! Love it all!

That coat in #3 and that dress in #5 are positively drool worthy!

  • ManidipaM replied 11 years ago

Why am I drooling over #3 when I couldn't make it work for me even if it were handed over on a silver platter? Now #5 is a whole other story...! It just needs a cape and boots, maybe a plumed hat --- for Tomspiration Tuesday?

    Ooh, I like the coats.

Argh, Rae, stop doing this to me! I already own this one:

And I'd like to add any one of these (or the red version of the one I own).

    Hey, Rae, lookie here:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-20.....2a1dda244a

Are there Desigual knock-offs? The one negative feedback here says it was not a real Desigual item. But it sure looks the same!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Thanks for sharing the Desigual love! Sylvie, those are some great pics! How do you find their sizing?

Una, are you able to add a photo at all? I know I'm needy, but I won't be home until late tonight, and I can't get to ebay links from this computer... dying to see what you found!

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

It's the first dress/jacket you posted, for $69 dollars BIN on ebay. There are several available!

  • Heather replied 11 years ago

Rae, I love your Wantsies. :) I bet they inspire some DIY, too! Love that about you!

    LOOKIT TEH KITTY DRESS!!!

    *plonk*

    Love.

  • replied 11 years ago

Love the engineer jacket for you!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Oh, AWESOME, Una! Thank you! Man, now I'm annoyed with my dinner plans, as they are standing between me and ebay!

Heather, you are right, the DIY wheels were definitely turning. :)

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

I'm seriously eying it myself. My only concern is the shoulders and whether they are too poufy. However, the ebay seller claims to accept returns within 30 days, which is huge. Coatdress twins?

  • Sylvie replied 11 years ago

Desigual runs small relative to "standard American sizing". Their target market is teenagers, so I believe they fit more like a Juniors brand. I take a PS in most brands and size up to an M in Desigual.

The necks are usually scooped pretty deeply - a camisole is a must. The torsos run a bit long for a petite, but if I try on 10 pieces, I'll be able to find one that works for me. A non-petite can probably order without trying on and be sure the pieces will fit.

  • MsMary replied 11 years ago

I have a Desigual dress and although I could get into the S, I ended up buying the M because it fit better. Totally agree they run long in the torso. I bought a fantastic tank at Cirque du Soleil without trying it on, and it turned out to be WAY long.

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Oh, wow, thanks for the sizing info! I usually wear a 38 IT and 8-10 UK but, Mary, if you're in a Medium, that would probably make me a 42 IT based on their size chart!

ETA: Una, do the sleeves look puffy in the Ebay picture? I am not a puff fan, either, but I would be stoked to be coat twins.

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

They look puffy in the link you posted, if you zoomin on the photos. Check them out. I'm afraid they may not work for me as an IT. But see what you think - would love your opinion.

The coat colors are inspiring me to try a citron/black/grey/cobalt outfit. :)

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Ah, I see! I thought that was all epaulette, but there is a pleat on the sleeve as well. Hrm. Decisions, decisons... maybe I'll email the seller and ask.

I think we both have all the colors to do an inspired outfit - we can be color twins if not coat twins!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Oh, lord, I just realized that the engineer jacket converts into a vest and a super cropped jacket.... I think I need a stiff drink.

  • Janet replied 11 years ago

Gah! I love that convertible jacket/vest!

    And those prints are lovely.

  • Julie replied 11 years ago

I have one of the dresses you linked above. http://www.desigual.com/en_US/.....sa-20V2C12

It reminded me of The Beatles Revolver album cover, and beside, it was the perfect mid-thigh length to go with my jeans. Lovely cotton with just bit of stretchy.

Hope you get one, too, Rae. I'm sure you'll love it. Might be a good match for your white jeans.

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Unfortunately, the coat on Ebay is in China... after the weird-colored cat dress incident, I promised myself that I wouldn't buy from China again. :T

I think there is a Desigual near me. Maybe it's better to try and scope out some things in person and at least know my size.

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

Rae, please do check it out and report back on the engineer jacket especially! :) IKWIM about ordering from China...

  • Sylvie replied 11 years ago

Rae, my Desigual coat is a size 38 and I wear an S (baggier) or PS (more fitted) in the Nexx blouse, which is one of the few items I think we both own. I might fit into a UK 10 but there's no way I could squeeze into a UK 8. I think you'd be safe in a 38 and could possibly even wear a 36, FWIW.

These things you all posted are so fab! Especially that jacket. Why is the stuff I see in stores from this brand so frumpy?
