June Gloom Trench...

...and why it't not my North Face Maya.

I mentioned this on Diana's trench post, too, but I returned the Maya! So sad and frustrating, but it really, really attracted lint. Hadn't even worn it, my other blacks are fine, and in a house with three cats, I just couldn't see keeping it.

Cut to a recent post about another special trench quest. I was settled in to wait months and years for one I was sure was not a knockoff, was sure would fit, was not an 80s cut, and was affordable. I started watching one with a decent starting bid, even though I was sure it would get bid up. The seller had perfect feedback, I'd seen the style before, there were lots of online pics and stats to compare to verify authenticity. They auction end date came, I bid the lowest amount... And for the same price as the Maya, I now have a Burberry Harbourne with cotton/viscose lining and a novacheck undercollar!

It is not 100% waterproof, but it is resistant, and I have had way more foggy mornings than downpors and whale watching trips. I think this will actually serve me better. I am already getting more use, as you can see.

The rest of the outfit emerges bright and sunny, as I know the day will despite the fact that I'm stuck inside. :-)

Wearing Una's necklace yet again!

Way to go!  I remember growing up in Orange County that the first couple of weeks when school got out were always too cold to go to the beach in the morning, not really warm until July. And we always had to go back to school at the hottest time of the year :(. Cold and damp is no fun, especially when it's supposed to be summer. The black should serve you well.

I think that was a great decision - unworn and still attracting lint isn't a great combination at all. And, look what you got! Wonderful!

  • Sara L. replied 10 years ago

It looks great!  It sounds much more usable than the other one if it was still unworn.  Lint collecting clothes are a pet peeve so I get how irritating that can be.

Ooh, nice!  Great ending to your trench saga.  =)

Love the Burberry!!  It was meant to be yours!

And good call on the Maya. Attracting lint now, when unworn, can you even imagine what it would look like by the end of the day?

And you got your Burberry :D

Fabulous!!! Maybe I should embark on a search for a Burberry too! :) Let me know how it holds up for you!

How did I not feel a disturbance in the Force when you acquired a Burberry?  And you're wearing the necklace!  Blown away by fabness...

Unreal how lucky you were to get one right off the bat!  Looks so great.  I can't imagine you will ever have a single regret on this acquisition.  Congrats!

Sweet deal on the Burberry!  It looks fantastic too!  I like the unexpected combo of burgundy and yellow in your outfit.  It looks great!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

A Burberry!! The eBay gods have smiled on you. So fab and the necklace needs to be your signature piece.

  • replied 10 years ago

    O. M. Goodness! I'm almost jealous (except I don't need a black trench). This is so perfect for you and I'm glad you sent the linty one back. And you got a Burberry for the SAME PRICE?!!!! You go girl.

Can you believe I passed on a navy Burberry blazer at Goodwill because it had the older "Burberry's Prorsam" (with apostrophe+s) tag inside? I thought it was a fake. I think I need a smart phone for Christmas so I can do research at the store. :/

    Fantastic buy - love it.

It's fabulous!  I've got a Burberry on my list for some day. Not black, though. How's the sizing? TTS?

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

Perfect! Enjoy your new Burberry and that's a KILLER outfit. I bat for Team Citron Is A Neutral.

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Wow! I looked at the pictures before I read your post and thought "why that is a great trench!" Of course it turns out to be a Burberry. Perfection in a trench, and I don't even relate to trenches!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Wow, what a story! This is amazing, Rae! You scored big time. Fantastic outfit, too.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous outfit! And I am really liking your hair - I know you are growing it out!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

HOLY CRAP RAE!!! You got your Burberry! This is so fab on you that I can hardly stand it. And your citron top with your burgundy skinnies = fantastic combination. You look STUNNING.

  • ElleH replied 10 years ago

WOW! You are the ebay, thrifting Queen! You look fab in your new coat & the outfit too. Good for you Rae. And for a non full price item water resistant might be enough. If not you could keep watching ebay for a waterproof taupe coloured one so you can have both. Something you wouldn't probably do at full price. Yay so happy for you:)

  • donnat replied 10 years ago

    Congrats on the score! Xcellent

  • replied 10 years ago

Yum. Your style is getting a lot more feminine and bright, I've noticed. You mix styles well! I like the polish of the coat with the freshness of the citron top and the awesomeness (in general) of the wine jeans. Are my eyes deceiving me? Are those jeans dip dyed?
