This is the second time I've written a big, long post and had it disappear on me... I keep closing the window without choosing my category, boo...
Anyway, I wore the yellow linen sweater today, and it didn't feel fab at all. Is it possible for linen to stretch out? It just felt huge by the end of the day. Might have to return both the yellow and the blue, even though the blue is a size smaller. Also, I really have to find an outdoor spot that gets nice late-morning light, because these photos stink. :(
On a positive not, though, I got a good compliment on my ombre skinnies from a gal in the dresses department. She even found me again today to ask where I got them - so glad I didn't purge these back when I considered the gray version.

Sveta replied 11 years agoHonestly I like how it looks - it is oversized on you but cool. Actually I prefer it to a blue one.

MsMary replied 11 years agoRae, you look fab! And I am ridiculously happy to be your ombré skinnies twin! I love the pop of the white belt with them!
Yes, I think it's entirely possible for a linen sweater to stretch out, unfortunately. If it feels unfab, then back it must go! -
Mo replied 11 years agoThose ombre skinnies are a to die for statement item to keep no matter what! I think my linen blend sweater that I wore today does ease a little with wear. It may be that the knit is looser with the linen? Not sure.

Day Vies replied 11 years agoYou look so wonderful and yes linen does stretch when worn and shrinks when washed. Either way I love it. Is the belt in #1 neon?? I wish #2 were clearer because of the slim fit and high contrast.
I do hate that your weren't feeling so fab by day's end -- I can't tell by the pictures though! ;-) -
catgirl replied 11 years agoI think the linen looks deliberately slouchy, but IKWYM about feeling unfab in it as it stretches out. The second outfit is AMAZING! And you look so fit and gorgeous.

deb replied 11 years agoMy linen sweaters do stretch. I think yours looks good though.

CocoLion replied 11 years agoI love the linen sweater on you! Both outfits are super sleek.

Ornella replied 11 years agoWhat Denise said. Sleek is the word and I love sleek (as well) on you.
I can understand not feeling good about too much slouch, but to my eye this looks better than the navy version. However, it is about how you feel in it so ultimately you'll know what to do... but I really like it... just sayin'... -
replied 11 years agoRae FWIW I like the sweater on you but if you aren't feeling the love then I guess it's gotta go. The skinnies look fab as do your boots in 2, fabulous!
-
replied 11 years agoI like the sweater too, but I can see how it stretched out. Is it the under sleeve volume that is bugging you?
Second outfit is gorgeous. You are giving me white bootie styling ideas. -
kellygirl replied 11 years agoI really like the look of the linen sweater--slouchy and a little RATE which works since the rest of your outfit is so polished. I do agree that linen will grow--it's a great wearable and durable fabric but you have gotta love drape (at least in knits.)

Thistle replied 11 years agoI don't know much about linen other than it wrinkles and drives me batty! I think you look fab in both, though I tend more toward #2 as it's sleek styling reminds me more of your style.

rae replied 11 years agoThe thing that bothers me about the sweater is not visible in the pics... It is the back drape that really bugs me. Very big and bubbly and makes me look huge from the side. I love slouch but not bubbling/tenting. :-(

ironkurtin replied 11 years agoloose Linen knits can definitely stretch. It's important to find ones that fit along the side of the body under the pits for that reason. If they bag there, they'll just get bigger.

Jaime replied 11 years agoSorry about the sweater bag but both outfits look fabulous. Great shoes in both too!

rae replied 11 years agoThanks for all the deets on linen! That just confirms that I have to take the yellow back. The blue may fare better, though. Maybe I'll wear it around the house and see.

Ingunn replied 11 years agoToo bad you're not keeping it, because I think you look fab. But you need to feel it, too, of course.

About
I'm just your average working stiff who loves nice things and hates to pay for them. This blog outlines my efforts to navigate that treacherous shopping/saving divide through swappin', thriftin', and even a little resellin'. Many of the pieces in my wardrobe cost me just $1! We've heard a lot about people "living above their means" in recent years; I'm championing the concept of living large *below* your means - whatever that means for you. :)
