Linen/Leather Paratrooper

Between the olive-y brown/gray jacket and the baggy pants rolled up over combat boots, I felt a little like I ought to jump out of a plane today, but that's a-okay with my UWP alter ego. :)

In actuality, all I did was take a run to Target and Marshall's looking for a black & white printed, scoop-neck, semi-fitted, silky, dressy shell to wear under jackets and blazers. I don't know what could possibly be so hard about finding a super specific item in a super specific fit and color scheme, but I struck out. Found a few online that I like, but hm, why is it that I only like the $200 tank tops all of a sudden? I did manage to duplicate my beloved Aiko tee in white, though, for half the asking price on Ebay. Woohoo!

Anyway, I felt really good in this outfit and was tickled to play up my "waist" for once. Tried pics in a few spots outside, but Target had the best light. Nice and soft... a little dark, but at least there is not shadow beard or harsh reflections off the leather. Pulled out my one remaining mid-size crossbody today since my satchels felt weird with such a masculine outfit. Aviator glasses, of course. I feel I'll be wearing this exact combo again someday.

I may have been a little overdressed for my lunch run to Subway... but let's just call that an illustration of my comment on the "runway or everyday" thread. ;)

Aviators - Nordies
Mackage for Aritzia "Kenya" jacket - Ebay
B44 tee - Rack
Vince linen joggers - Ebay
B. Makowsky bag - Ebay (one of my first!)
Dr. Martens "Marcie" boots - Shoebuy

You know this is going to be a fave of mine.  Very steampunk meets Matrix.

Fabulous! Love the fit on that jacket and the Vince joggers are divine. They look great with the Marcie's.

Those are fab, fab pants. Great outfit for a hard days' work!

Fab!! Doesn't look too dressy for a Subway run to me :D That is a REALLY great shade of olive, wowza. Crossbody bag works perfectly here.

Well I love this very muchly on you and am going to try a copy-cat version. Although I'm lacking a leather jacket so it might end up more army than airforce. :D

I saw the white Aiko tees at my local Marshalls and they were so pretty, glad you found them!

    Great look!
BTW fill flash helps mitigate harsh shadows.

Living embodiment of Runway Everyday, As an Amy Vet. You have my seal of approval. Love this fit.

Now I'm going to have to elevate your status, this term UWP to UWQ Urban Warrior Queen. I just can't get down with the princess but, Queen I can rock with. Princess in the movie and fairy tales always needed to be rescued. But the Queen oh yes the Queen rules. Any way you are giving me all types of life.

Funny, Ladywone - I feel there is a stately element to being a Queen that I lack and don't seek. But I see your point! We all associate words so differently...

    You look super cool Rae!

  • Ledonna N. replied 10 years ago

It's cool, what's that movie? Frozen, and The Princess and the Frog, and Brave these movies teach young ones about empowerment. My 12yr old niece loves these movies because the princess rescues themselves. They don't wait to be saved. In my generation they always had to be saved. I was always asking my momma why? when it was so obvious that all they had to do.was save themselves. Lol only childhood, well it is a different world we live in and I love it.

Lol Iadywone, I also have a hard time with the 'princess' in UWP although I think maybe it hearkens back to Xena?  So that's cool in my book.   I like the look too but can't see myself as a blue blood even as an avatar, although I can see others rocking the 'queen' or 'knight' look that way.   Urban Warrior Bard? Urban Warrior Comrade??  :D

Ray, I am sorry for hijacking your thread. Rabbit, I agree I think it was in reference to Zena which is megga cool. I could get with Urban Warrior Bard or how about Urban Warrior Knight. It harkens to my Androgen/masculine side you know (kick you know what)

You got your tough on today, rae- totally love it! The cross body bag is perfect!

rabbit- Urban Warrior Bard..... ROFL, ROFL!!

Fantastic! I would be delighted to see you on the concrete runway!

  • Gigi replied 10 years ago

I love the outfit! I especially like the jacket.

If you are looking for a shell like you describe, you could try White House Black Market. That sounds like something they would carry. Yes, it may be online for you, but at least they don't carry $200 tanks. :^)

This outfit is great on you! It does have a bit of a paratrooper vibe, but uh, you're missing the red beret. :) Definitely an outfit to repeat.

  • Diana replied 10 years ago

So fab from head to toe! Love the Vince joggers with the Marcies. (And I'm jealous that the pants fit you so well - I tried them too and they were so poorly fitting on me... Bummer because that is exactly the kind of linen pants I was looking for, and I haven't seen similar elsewhere.)

The joggers are great bit the jacket is such a good fit, I love it.
