Manspiration Month: Andy Dufresne

Andy Dufresne. The tidy tax man, wrongly convicted, who somehow found a way to keep his spirit alive in - and eventually escape from - Shawshank Prison. No matter what my own personal prison might be, and no matter how long it might take to tunnel out, Andy reminds me that it's worth it. There is light at the end of that tunnel, and my knowledge and abilities can get me there - if only I have a little patience.

Today's outfit is inspired by Andy's prison uniform: chambray shirt and blue jeans. I've buttoned my banker-blue shirt all the way up like the prisoners did in the film, done my best to slouch my blue sloans, and got to thinking about what Mexico means to me. The striped bag represents prison bars, and the red jacket represents Andy's best friend, Red.

**********
Sometimes dressing is a lot like chess... taxing. But with a little help from Rita Hayworth (definitely not my Sisters), I'll find my outfit redemption. If the office is cold, my Red jacket will be my best friend - and if I'm not warm after that, I just might escape down to a hotel in Mexico!

Love the buttoned up shirt! That bag is so cool. No idea, yet again, who the manspiration is, but you are lookin' good. I can't believe you're on day 20 already--times flies!

Fun outfit! Nice blues. Didn't know that you liked to buttoned up :)

No idea on this one's inspiration but I like the buttoned up blouse with a red jacket and jeans. Kind of American sportswear at it's best.

I'm pretty clueless about each day's inspiration, but I just wanted to let you know that I enjoy your outfits. You always look great!

Got this one too! Rae, you and I are totally sympatico in our pop-culture preferences. This one refers to a movie I loved but haven't seen in years, so I'd forgotten about some of the elements (the Sisters, for example) until now.

I'm amused that your classic outfit was influenced by something so gritty. You've got style on lockdown!

Great casual look! I have no clue about the clue!

I know this one!! LOVE the stripes!! So perfect with the outfit and the inspiration!! This whole challenge really shows your style versatility -- it's impossible to keep you locked down in a single look! ;)

CHEEKY and I love it! Button those blouses up more often, and please wear that bag All The Time for me :D

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Yay, MaryK and Chrizzle! You ladies rock! I thought for sure that I had given really poor clues today, but you still came through. :D

Angie and Aida, I didn't know I liked to button up, either! But that's how the inspiration does it, so I tried, and I like. I was surprised that it didn't make my torso feel miles long.

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Rae, I thought the same thing! I have a proportionally long torso and was worried I'd turn into a wall of torso if buttoning up all the way. But Lo! The proportions are fine AND it's super cheeky :D

As usual, I have no useful guess (I'm pitiful at this game!) but I do know I like the outfit. And that bag is so incredibly fabulous - and one of a kind!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

    Inspiration revealed!

  • Jonesy replied 11 years ago

Darn, I should have guessed this one! I watch that movie every time I stumble across it on TV--I just get sucked in :).
