Manspiration Month: Data (Star Trek: The Next Generation)

What is it with me and robots? I sure amy busy admiring a lot of androids who, meanwhile, are busy admiring the human experience. What a world!

Anyway, the inspiration for the below outfit was Data, who has a positronic brain and is also the COO of the star ship Enterprise on Star Trek TNG. He may be a synthetic life form, but he's also very curious and super interested in understanding human feelings and behaviors. He's always been one of my favorite characters on the show - and not just because he owns a cat!

We can't all be Patrick Stewart, but we can still boldly go to work in bright, futuristic colors. Today's manspiration is always chalk full of useful facts and figures, and he is part of the next generation of crew members. Although he has trouble processing emotions, he's positronicly capable of playing the violin. He always strives to learn more about humanity but, as we all know, that can be quite a trek!

Yay! Thanks for giving enough data to allow us to figure this out! You look great, and I love that striped bag more every time I see it!

  • Angie replied 5 years ago

A clean and crisp look! LOVE you in that shade of cream with your black hair.

    How did the interview go?

  • Transcona Shannon replied 5 years ago

Fab outfit Rae - love the citron blouse paired with the white sweater. And that handbag is sooooo fantastic! Good thing I didn't need any more data.

Woohoo! It always makes me smile when sci fi and fashion mix well - thanks Shannon and MaryK!

Angie, thanks for asking - the interview went well, I think. It was for a personal assistant, and she seemed to like me and my work but also planned to interview her neighbor's assistant. We'll see...

What an enterprising outfit, Rae! Perfect for a day of crunching data at the bank, but make sure you keep in touch with your humanity and don't turn into an android.

I really like the combo of citron, cream, and black!

Brilliant outfit (I got this one but am enjoying the witty replies of the others too much to fomulate my own). The striped bag is very nice - that was a DIY, right?

  • Sarah A replied 5 years ago

brilliant outfit! I am off to figure out if I missed the post on the diy bag? ... Love it!

  • rae replied 5 years ago

Sylvie and Sarah, here's the DIY post! I was so scared I would mess the bag up, but I really love it now that it's done. :)

Very lovely look! That jacket is fab with the shirt! Thanks for making this one an easier one to figure out!

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

Gar! I am on the train and the wi-fi is terrible; it won't let me open the image, and I'm so upset because I can tell even from the thumbnail that I love it!

Glad the interview went well. Crossing fingers for you.

  • catgirl replied 5 years ago

I know this one! I even know his pet cat. So glad I'm going to catch the last few days of Manspiration!

Can't top Diana's clever reply and I think we know who we're talking to here! Rae, did you think of the bag to represent his/its thinking in black & white, computerised bar codes or the bars in his 'eyes'?

  • rae replied 5 years ago

Hehe! Spot, the cat was a great touch, Una. I'm glad you are around for the end of the month, too - you are giving me an incentive to stick with it!

Manidipa, I had a hard time choosing a bag and settled on this one with binary code in mind (computer language made up of all zeros and ones). Pretty tickled that you noticed. :)

  • Aida replied 5 years ago

YES! Love this (and the inspiration character ^^), the cream+yellow+black is SUPER together. If anyone told me wearing these three colors together makes them feel like a bee, this is the photo I would show them to prove otherwise. I just love how cream looks with your hair and skin, so fresh.

  • annagybe replied 5 years ago

Um shouldn't it be Patrick STEWART? But yay I finally guessed one right.

  • rae replied 5 years ago

Ack - I've fixed the error, Anna. Thank you, that is what I get for posting while I'm still asleep mentally!

    Manspiration revealed!

Love that color on you, Rae!

Years ago I adopted a cat named Worf. I couldn't bear to change his name. Such a geek! ;-)
