Modern Mixology

I very clearly remember growing up knowing never to pair navy with black, brown with black, silver with gold, or racerback tops with regular bras. I may have even thrown a tantrum or two when my dad tried to rush my outfit process by insisting those things were okay... Yet here I am today, wearing all these combinations quite happily. How the times do change! Sorry, Dad, I had no idea you were so ahead of your time.

Also included is a close-up of the necklace Una sent. :-D

Banana republic tank - handed down
City of Outsiders skinnies - $1 at flea market
Men's belt - flea, market
Gold necklace - Una via Nordies
Report Marks booties - Amazon
Ted Baker bag - flea market

SO FAB!!  Yay for Rae's Dad, the Fashion Forecaster!

  • Thistle replied 10 years ago

You look terrific! Casual, comfortable, and so on trend!

Who knew your Dad was so ahead of is time? Now, if wearing white socks pulled up to your knees comes into style, we'll know my dad was ahead of his time!

You look fab!  And what did your dad say about pattern mixing and wearing white, esp. white shoes before Memorial Day and after Labor Day?

Do you have to always slam it out of the park with every outfit you post here, even (especially) the most deceptively "simple" ones? You're setting up impossible standards for the rest of us, you know. So boyishly feminine, if that makes sense. Love the colors. Love the fit. Love the necklace along the ragged edge of the tank. You look great, approachable but cool!

    I want to belt out:

    " She's so fine....
    Simply irresistible..........."

    :)

(The comic in me had an instantaneous reaction when I saw this wiw : I was like hot dang...she so fine!!!!!!!!)

You ladies are cracking me up today!

Donna, it's funny you should mention that. He was the first to tell me to try plaid with stripes! And he had a pair of woven white loafers that I'm sure he wore after Labor Day if it pleased him. ;)

Nancy and Sona, you are so nice to me! The comments are very appreciated, though, because I would honestly wear this outfit formula every day if I could.

Rae, I think it's so adorable that your dad gave you fashion advice!  I really love all of the combos you mentioned:  black with navy, black with brown, etc.

You look fab here (as usual!).  That necklace from Una is amazing!

Thanks for the close up of the necklace, it's beautiful! Love your outfit Rae and I have to say you have gorgeous arms:).

Fantastic thrifting, Rae. Your shoulders look wonderful in the singlet top and I love the frayed edging. Hey, when I think about it, that's another thing you could add to your list of former NoNo's - frayed edges.
The gold necklace shifts the casual vibe into a higher gear, brilliant.

    Really flattering on you!

OMG, there is really something about the glossy black of your hair with that blue top! Shwow! And your jeans bookend your hair of course so wearing black with blue should be a natural for you. The necklace Una sent you is out. of. this. world. Srsly.

Your hair is growing out really nicely and your cute little figure has never looked better. What ever you're doing, keep it up!
