My other secret identity is... Captain America!

ETA:

Shannon wins! Today's outfit was inspired by Supersoldier Steve Rogers - also known as Captain America. Pics added of the captain selling war bonds and returning to camp after a successful rescue mission.

The only success of a secret government experiment, Cap ran around
kicking major Nazi/Red Skull bootay before being frozen, thawed, and
hit with some serious time-lag. He's awesome because his earnestness
and idealism are literally from a bygone era - he's a big, burly
champion of retro-40s charm. In tights.

This outfit is inspired by 40s-era Cap: red, white, and blue topeed
with a brown leather jacket. :)

. Clues were:
- red/white/blue
- military theme (bomber jacket, air force blue bag)
- "shield" (Cap's weapon/accessory of choice)
- Memorial Day (Cap was thought killed in action)
- "star"
- "comic-al"
- "frozen" (Cap was actually frozen in the ocean - not killed)

Have a great Friday-after-Memorial-Day, and don't forget to shield yourself from all that sun we're supposed to have this weekend!

This rings a bell but I cannot say who.

As Rae you do look fantastic.

  • replied 11 years ago

Okay, your bag is Air Force blue, and you're wearing your bomber jacket and saluting, but I haven't a clue, sorry!

I love the outfit. I'm amazed that with a semi-tuck into a micro-rise jean, your legs *still* look a mile long. Must be the heels! Those jeans are awesome on you!

  • modgrl replied 11 years ago

How fun! Love that semi tuck. Are you sure you want to do this for a whole entire month? It seems like it could be limiting.

  • ramya replied 11 years ago

    Am I right here???

    Tom cruise in Top Gun???

    U look gr8... :)

Love the belt and boot bookending and those jeans fit like they were made for you. I'm terrible at Superhero knowledge but am wondering if this is Captain America? (please don't laugh if I'm way wrong...)

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Thank you, Celia. Happy I don't look comical.

Claire's a star and already found lots of clues!

Rita, I have lots of ideas lined up already, but we will see if I end up frozen after a while...

  • replied 11 years ago

You definitely woke up on the right side of the bed this morning . . . you look so happy!

Great outfit. You're a fighter pilot?

  • Astrid replied 11 years ago

You look great! No idea about today's hero though...

  • rae replied 11 years ago

    Shannon guessed it!

Ramrrr and Alicat, those were great guesses, though! You got the military part right!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

    WHOO HOO!!!!

  • celia replied 11 years ago

    Captain America, that makes sense.
So you are a leader :)

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

    That is AWESOME!!!

  • replied 11 years ago

I completely missed your post explaining manspiration month. Could you do a sci-fi / anime twist, on manspiration? i'm thinking battlestar meets death note. That would be awesome.

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

Hey, I wasn't even awake to guess! And I would have known this, being a huge comic book fan. :) Marvel-ous look!

  • replied 11 years ago

You are the epitome of hip and cool, but *approachable* hip and cool, which is all the more awesome!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Oh, Zap, I have some PLANS. I think you will get a kick out of one of the weekend outfits coming up. :D

Ah, sorry Una! Maybe I should wait longer to make the big reveal? I think this was one of the easier superhero outfits, so I will definitely wait for you to chime in on Fridays!

  • christieanne replied 11 years ago

I missed the original post but this sounds so fun! Can't wait for more because you nailed Capt. America.

  • Amy replied 11 years ago

    Fan-tas-tic!

  • Mo replied 11 years ago

I came in too late, along with Una. Maybe next week, you could post your reveal on your blog only so we can have a little bit more fun over here longer? (Yes, I'm totally selfish like that!)
    :)

  • Jem replied 11 years ago

Now, this is what I call having fun with fashion! :-) You look great as always and I love your theme for the month!

  • Kirti replied 11 years ago

You, rae, are amazing! I love this challenge and I love your outfit :-)

  • rae replied 11 years ago

I will definitely hold off next time. Even if someone guesses correctly, I should wait, right? I wasn't sure if you'd think all the previous guesses were wrong.

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

Very wearable and fun! I love Captain America! You look ready to ride his hot, vintage motorcycle!

For a long time, I stayed away from red and blue together -- even with blue jeans. So glad to visit this combination again.

    Can't wait for tomorrow!

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

    AWESOME. Your work looks are always fabulous, but your weekend and denim looks really, really speak to me :}

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

You are SO CUTE! Our little SGT :). I really enjoyed the movie.

  • Debora replied 11 years ago

Just saw The Avengers last week, so I am loving this thread! You nailed it, Rae! Love your outfit!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

I really liked the Captain America and Avengers films, too! Skinny Steve Rogers was a great character setup, and that was the best Hulk to date, if you ask me.

  • Kiwichik replied 11 years ago

I'm an Avengers nut so I love your manspiration & your interpretation. Thumbs up!
