Oh yeah, I tried on the Gap sexy boyfriend jeans this weekend!

I actually really liked them - they are the jeans equivalent of my baggy short shorts! Angie was dead on the money like always; I found the dropped crotch to look most intentional (and least plum-smuggling) two sizes up from my normal Gap size.

I didn't buy them yet because I hope to find a deal on Ebay, but I'm feeling impatient now. Itching to get my paws on a pair!

Great review! You might want to stalk a Gap sale/discount instead of Ebay, so you can pick your pair in the store. Or maybe I'm the customer from h*ll who insists no two size 'X' are ever created equal.

Actually, I find Gap fit, faded spots, etc. inconsistent from pair to pair and absolutely love to select in person. Just food for thought. . .

I can't wait to see how you style them! I am waiting for my next sale coupon to grab another pair.

Ooh, now I remember I tried the Kut from the Kloth BF's at the Rack. Maybe because my first go round was the True Religions, I was not impressed :/
I should have swung by the Gap, darnit!

Whoo hoo!!! Welcome to the saggy crotch Gap BF club Rae! I can't remember if you saw my post that I bought a second pair a size larger and like the slouch even more. That Angie definitely knows what she's talking about, doesn't she? Looking forward to the pics when you get yours!

MNsara, do coupons ever apply to jeans? The last few I've received were not applicable to denim bottoms - made me so grumpy! I also didn't know the washes varied that much. Erg, maybe I should just go get some at full price. Last time I waited on a Gap product my size sold out and I had to go to Las Vegas to get them.

Mo, I think they are definitely worth a try. The legs are tapered much more than most BF jeans I've seen around, so I think they look very nice on slim calves and ankles.

I only order from Gap online, as the nearest store is Toronto, and the email coupons I get (unless restricted to sale items) always have applied to denim.

Count me in the Gap BF club. I've got 3 sizes at home, and I think I know which of the 3 I will end up keeping. I really like them and can't wait to see ideas for styling them!

Great field work, Rae. Do you have a link for them and did I read you right that you sized up two?

  • Diana replied 11 years ago

Yay! I am wearing mine today. =)

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Vicki, here are two links. I'm trying to decide between the regular and flap pockets. Yes, 2 sizes up for me! I am usually a 2 at Gap and liked the 6 best.

High five, Rae! I knew you'd be a dropped crotch loving sister. I also ended up with two sizes up.

A VERY observant Shannon spotted me wearing them on client Meredith's photo shoot (the outtakes) and commented on them :)

I totally agree about the Gap BF jeans flattering slim ankles and calves. Personally I preferred my regular size 2--the size 4 wasn't visibly much more baggy and was much closer to falling off my hips.

In the US, at least, most Gap coupons don't apply to denim. They do give a 20% one regular price item coupon for taking a survey after any in-store purchase, and that doesn't exclude denim explicitly although I haven't tried it yet. The Friends & Family coupon doesn't exclude denim either, but it only comes around a few times a year.

Coupons do seem to work on sale-priced denim. I've come close to buying a white, colored, or dark-wash pair at deep discount, but the faded denim would really be more versatile.

Whoo hoo Rae, they seem such your style. Good luck in the hunt.

I just bought a pair off of ebay, so it will be interesting to see what I think. I just got one size up, so we'll see. I haven't tried them on, but can't get talls in Canada and saw the ebay ones and just went for it. I've had pretty good luck buying gap jeans off of ebay, although this is a new style.

  • rae replied 11 years ago

KL, thanks so much for explaining the different coupons! Invaluable.

Jem, great to hear you had good luck on Ebay. I think it would be wiser for me to wait for a deal of some kind, even though I want them, like, yesterday. I'll just have to make do with my baggy J. Crew jeans for now.

Oh-oh. Rae is on the hunt! I am not willing to place bets against her succeeding.

I tried the back of hubby's closet. There was an ancient pair of jeans in there (great quality and naturally distressed) but they were just way too baggy for me to feel comfortable in them. Too much dropped crotch. Oh well. It was my ideal price point...

On the other hand, I commandeered the belt. Wide, thick leather with a big square belt. Vintage men's wear, LOL! Also my ideal price point. I promised to give it back if he ever shrinks enough to fit it again.
