Painterly European Moto Guzzi

Even though Sheer Tee Weather has finally fled Los Angeles, I had to wear the awesome blouse that Janet sent over through the style exchange! I felt like it added a pretty, romantic element to the borderline-mannish leather-and-trouser, black and brown combo. Got lots of nice comments on the jacket when worn zipped up as a top like this, too. Yay for indoor leather jackets!

I am also still having fun with my Google Images experiment (which in turn is inspiring some fun outfit descriptors!)... even though I might be the only one so highly entertained by the exercise.

DH was all like, "Erm, don't you know that Image Search just shows you random, unrelated stuff?"

And of course I said, "Yes, that's why it's so interesting!"

Maybe it's like a Rorschach test, revealing more about my self-perceptions than anything else, but come on... I get a bunch of old-timey paintings, the cover to an opera magazine, a view from a motorcycle, and some poor dude hospitalized in a neck brace... how is that not perfectly apt?

It's freaky, I tell you. Freaky.

Whoa. I didn't know you can find similar images like that! I guess I know what I'm doing for the next hour! :)

PS: Jacket looks amazing zipped up like that!

    Love the jacket - score!

Your google image experiment is so much fun.  It's like you have to squint your eyes to make the images work but it definitely picks up random pics with the same colours and size blocks. :)

That does sound freaky. But It sounds like a fun experiment!

    You look great Rae!

Wow, the leather on that jacket must be so soft. It's wonderful. And I like the peek of blouse beneath. Yay for Janet.

Janet's blouse is perfect here! Love the jacket worn as top. You know I love the google images game too. I've taken to playing it during short experiment breaks at work.

    Hope you're feeling better today!

Yep, that is how that jacket looks best on. IMO. I even wore it with a black pencil skirt for a very corporate client. Some ladies stopped me to "pet it" in the cafeteria. I can tell you, that is one of my most loved pieces. It is even more special now that you have it.

I am attachings some pics I took when my bestie came to NY, for the sake of twinniehood. She is wearing boyfriend jeans, isn't she amazing? I am
scrunched down because there is a 4 inch difference in height between the two of us. I was wearing 2 inch wedge sneakers and she was wearing flats. Hahaha, we were unable to fit on the same frame lol.

Going back to you, lol, I am very happy to see that you have managed a complete overturn on your wardrobe with no regrets and no financial loss.(how is that for amazing!)

    Love that Brahmin bag.

Wow!  Looking good Rae!  I like the romantic + the leather.

Fun to see you in flares, Rae. And as fun to see Zap and little Zap.

YAY for finally finding an indoor leather jacket. Looks smashing.

  • replied 10 years ago

(Angie, that is not Little Zap hehe. It is my childhood friend )

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Zap, you and your BFF are adorable and fashionable together! And oh my, the jacket with the aviator glasses just gets me right there... I must find some aviators that don't give me basset hound eyes (yes, continuing to copy you, lol).

You're bringing flares back, and I dig it. I am suddenly wishing for all the jeans of my teen years back. :D You really seem to be developing a groove here recently, where all your outfits seem consistent, and immediately identifiable as "rae." Super cool.

I was just thinking, how amazing is it that a bag like that, which looks bold and statement-y, can still go so perfectly with everything? I would have bet it wouldn't work with other colors of leather, for instance, and I would have been totally wrong.

I love this outfit combination! The shape is wonderful and although "mannish" in color choice definitely very feminine in shape. I agree with you -- even if the images are "random" they somehow covey a very Rae kind of feel that makes me believe there is some sort of order in this "chaos".

Love the warmth of color and drape in the leather in this jacket!  Leather for indoors is a beautiful thing!
