Rusted Metal

Just a quick work WIW - based around my simultaneous desires to show my pedicure another day and to cover my legs (it was a cooler, gray day today that inspired leg coverage).

I find this outfit interesting because I could easily see it on someone twice my age. I got lots of questions about my shirt today, too. But I still don't think it's "too old" for me. It's just one of those things, I guess!

Brooks Brothers Spago Shirt - BB
Gold belt - flea market
Rich & Skinny jeans - Piperlime
BP necklace - Nordies via Una
Nixon watch - $1 at flea market
Worishofer sandals - DNA Footwear

I don't know how old you are, but I don't think it looks old at all!  I like how the shoes, belt and necklace match, and the color of the jeans.

I think a crisp white shirt is 'ageless', and of course your shoes lift this outfit to cool-sophisticated for sure!

Love the shirt on you and yes it is an ageless classic. I love the warm coloured jeans and gold accessories with it. Fab Rae!

  • Ornella replied 10 years ago

Rae, this is great modern classic outfit. You've accessorised it to reflect you and it certainly does not look old, let alone too old.

  • Mochi replied 10 years ago

Another deceptively simple-looking ensemble that is so perfect (because it's "simple"). All the details are just so. There's some sort of post-modern Audrey Hepburn chic going on here (or am I really forcing analogies here?) But it looks fabulous.

I agree this is an ageless look, the touches of gold are what sets it apart.

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

Is your style shifting?  I'm really enjoying your classic yet with an edge outfits lately.

Love the classic white shirt worn "Rae way"!

  • Sarah A replied 10 years ago

Yes, totally the power of the classics. You look sharp with the little gold touches  adding that just right bold accent :)

  • Susie replied 10 years ago

This is very nice- classic with a Rae twist. And I agree that it is an ageless look.

  • Thistle replied 10 years ago

Classic and ageless. Love the gold touches!

Anybody can wear a shirt like that. Looking great: classic at the top and modern / casual at thebottom. Perfect combination.
With me it is not the age (I fit the bill of being twice as old hahaha). It is my bosom which never fits in crisp button down shirts. I am having one made especially for me now.

Fantastic! What a great colour. I like your restrained, but not too restrained, use of accessories.

  • kellygirl replied 10 years ago

Love the classic blouse with the skinnies. You are looking a little less UWP these days (although probably mostly because of work, I'm sure.)  Nevertheless, I really like the direction your style is heading.

  • Ariadne replied 10 years ago

You look gorgeous, Rae, and very "you," somehow (too tired to articulate it better than that!).

  • deb replied 10 years ago

I think this is right along with your style change from UWP. I really like the look on you.

  • Adelfa replied 10 years ago

I love the way the snugger jeans provide a modern counterpoint to the classic shirt. Mochi is right. That effortlessly simple thing is not easy at all.

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

As always you look fantastic and the look is very pre-fall ... the button-down suggests back to school (to me at least -- I wore button downs as part of my school uniforms), and the color rust is obvious.  Perfectly chosen given where you work and what you are selling!

  • Lantana replied 10 years ago

YLF Rae but I'm intrigued - what questions were you asked about the shirt?

  • JennyAnne replied 10 years ago

You look great!  The crisp white shirt works well with the skinny pants.  I love the neutral mix.

  • rae replied 10 years ago

No Fear, great news that you are getting one made! A plain shirt is so useful when wearing other crazy things, lol.

Denise, good news! It is sometimes tough to think up an outfit to sell Fall items when it is h.o.t. outside.

Lantana, I mostly got asked where I got it and if we sell one like it. :)!

Mochi, I am flattered by the Audrey comparison. She is way more ladylike than I am, but I have always found her so gorgeous and stylish.

Lisa and Kelly, yes, I had a whole post somewhere about shifting style - I am calling the new look 00noir for now to help me get focus. 00 as in 007/James Bond and noir for that dark/cynical element.

  • ramya replied 10 years ago

I just copied you today rae with my maroon jeans and 2 tone flats:)

  • Debra replied 10 years ago

A great look Rae, I have some very cute rust skinnies that I wear with a looser style white button up and my MOST favorite giraffe print moccasins.
PS I think I am probably twice your age too....

  • Carole replied 10 years ago

This is a great outfit, and I absolutely love the color of the skinnies. You are right, someone twice your age would consider wearing the outfit, it could be me!

  • Lantana replied 10 years ago

    Or me :)

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

I am twice your age (I think) and I would wear it! But not sure I'd wear it as beautifully as you.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 10 years ago

More admiration here for your simply chic outfit. The jeans and necklace give it that bit of edge that is your signature. You look fab!

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Either some of you think I'm much younger than I am, or you are older than you look!
