Slouching VertebRae

I tell you what, it's been a busy month last month, and May shows no signs of slowing down. Here's a window into my life right now - may as well be a window into my brain. They say a cluttered desk denotes a cluttered mind, and we've gone way beyond that! lol We don't even have a move date yet, but I guess we are on Team Preparation. We are hoping that boxing things up little by little will pay off in the long run.

I first tried this outfit with a boxy silk top, but I wasn't in the mood for that much body surrender today. Changed into my trust Aiko tee, and I feel much better.

#3 shows one of my prizes from when we visited my dad in Kansas City - if you are ever in the area, you must hunt down a Standard Style! They have a wonderful eye for style and aren't afraid to mix Helmut/Rag & Bone/Haute Hippie with fab low-end pieces on the same rack. My store does not support this type of merchandizing, but I love how it shows you exactly how to style a less expensive piece and retain the luxury-look factor. It also forces you to fondle all those expensive items while you look for a deal - great way to make sure you don't brush off an item because of the price tag.

Anyhow, I had already paid for another item (to be revealed soon) and noticed this necklace in the case as we turned to leave. The subtle, spine-like design won my heart immediately. I figured it must be out of my league since it was In The Case, but it was a nice steal! I had just been admiring Aida's white collar necklace, and this one practically dropped in my lap. :)

I wish they had an online store, so I could add a fab find - I am totally loving the new feature!

Still lurking and reading and lusting after all your outfits, even though I'm scarce on the forum.

    Gorgeous girl!

Also, VertebRae is so awesome it needs to be immortalized somewhere.

I love this outfit!  The necklace is special.  Really beautiful last pic!  Glow-y!

And you have my sympathies about moving - there are few things as stressful or more of a pain in the butt!

  • jackiec replied 3 years ago

Cool necklace! Oh good luck with the moving. Finished with that here last summer and it was soooooo much work.

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

You are a stylish packer. Great necklace and name. Good luck. xo

Love this so much! My Rockstud lookalikes are supposed to arrive today, and if they work my plan is to wear them with the pj jeans although I don't know where. Must schedule drink with someone. So much fun! Oh, and a white necklace may be another way to wear white - this one is uber fab.

    And wait, you're moving?

  • Karie replied 3 years ago

I am loving those PJ jeans, and I really like the way you've styled them with the black ankle strap shoes. That new necklace was a great find!

  • Parsley replied 3 years ago

Your clever titles are so much fun, Rae!
I love your new necklace, and I love the way you combine high and low end, casual and dressy, just like it sounds like Standard Style does!

I don't envy you having to pack to move. It's always so much work and chaos. But it looks like you'll be ready!

    You always look great rae

    *crash helmet, where are you?*

    This is ... gah ... can't . find . words...

FAB. Spine-tinglingly so. Still clinging hopelessly to the now-defunct mantra: "I don't like distressed denim". Worldview tilting. . . (thank you)

Love the balance of pretty polish and RATE.  There is a bit of Art Deco/Myrna Loy in both the top and necklace -- and the shoes!

  • Aida replied 3 years ago

Woooo you found your white necklace :D That's a great one, I love the spine reference. Outfit looks super, the mix of styles and dressiness is superb. The Okalas, no surprise, look fab here.

  • Suz replied 3 years ago

Great outfit and gorgeous necklace -- it really suits you! I love how it can swing both lady-like and tough.

  • cciele replied 3 years ago

Oooo, the necklace is all kinds of awesome! And love how the outfit works with the Okalas. My Miramars are sad because right now I am wearing them at home with mismatched socks, one purple, one ivory.

I love the color blocked top and the necklace.  Great outfit!  It's nice to see one of your outfits again - I've been scarce on the forum lately so have probably missed all your recent posts.

  • Isabel replied 3 years ago

You look great !  I don't remember ever seeing a short necklace on you before, am I wrong ?  You look very edgy yet refined at the same time. I love it.

Looking good Rae! My empathy on living with boxes everywhere!

  • fuzzylogic replied 3 years ago

Great title for a post! Tehehehe!
Love that relaxed look! Craving some ankle strap pumps!
All the best with packing- it's hard work!

  • rachylou replied 3 years ago

Ooh I like your ankle straps, jeans, and graphic top... and the bit of bling at the neckline there. Oh, and the hair is looking super cute!

  • Kiwichik replied 3 years ago

Feeling your pain re living in a shambles - but how fortunate that the chaos has not affected (effected never sure which one to use) your style. Love the contrast between the delicate shoes and slouchy pants.
