Testing My (Theyskens) Theory

Felt the urge to wear white jeans today, so I tested out my recent idea that I like light outfits more when there is a dark element to one of the pieces. I felt comfortable in it, and DH said he liked it much better than my normal work outfits... (insert eye roll at DH's foot in mouth syndrome here). Overall, I wish the jeans did not have yellow stitching, but I would wear this again. :)

I will break out of my dark color rut yet!

Also, my white Theory suiting blazer arrived in two sizes... but it's going back in exchange for the linen version. The suiting version looks way more stiff, has no stretch so it's less comfy, and it does a very strange puckering thing at the shoulders. I'm kind of sad and impatient to wear the darned thing, but at least Nordies is still price matching another sale.

Rae, that top is just gorgeous on you! LOVE!!!  I am sorry DH put his foot in his mouth, but I think you look sensational in that outfit, too. And I am sure the yellow stitching must have been fun with the bag.

That's a shame about the jacket, but it's really a gorgeous item. And you will look terrific in the linen version.

I really love the bright bag

I love the top and it looks great with the white jeans. Have to smile at your DH's way of putting things!

I really like this outfit. Your thought about a dark element to one of the pieces of a light outfit was illuminating. :) I think I'm the same way.

You look brilliant in white and your bright purse just pops!

I think your theory is correct ;)

The top is beautiful and looks fantastic with the white jeans and yellow bag. That's too bad about the blazer, but the linen one will be nice for spring/summer wear.

Nice outfit. I always find it interesting that you showcase bags but most of your work day doesn't feature the bag.
I hope linen version of the white jacket works for you.

I'm with ya sister. Wearing dark with white allows a fun pop in handbag, jacket or even hat, without leaning completely into frivolity! Not to judge others, but I personally don't feel comfortable in multiple brights together. You have inspired me to bring out the bright bags!

This looks terrific on you. It is hard to see the yellow stitching but the bag looks so good. Too bad about the jacket.

I understand what dashielle is saying -- I also usually feel uncomfortable in multiple bright colors unless there is a grounding neutral.

I love that top (I wish our Rack carried TT!) and think this outfit is still very you. I have been enjoying injecting a bit more white into my outfits lately, and I think it looks terrific on you too.

It's the hair, don't you think? I can admire a dark-haired woman in all white, very much indeed. Nothing whatsoever wrong with the look. But I think I know that feeling. The feeling of needing something dark somewhere. Now that I've gotten my too-bright highlights "toned" I'm expecting a slight shift in color preference!

You do look wonderful and the outfit is conventionally flattering which IME is what most men like, not just DH, who I'm sure you love for his candor!

Well lady spy (sorry unfortunately for you in my mind you are Mata Hari or maybe HG Wells from W13) - of course you must anchor all your looks with something dark -like the inner core of your complex persona (sorry I've been watching reruns of Warehouse 13 and I just finished the one about Mata Hari's silk stockings).

    hey, hey, hey

Love the whole outfit & the blazer but I know you have a better one on the way. I sooo want that bag. I wanted to buy a yellow Mimco bag in Australia but in real life it wasn't that bright color I thought it was.
