Ugg Cortona Convertible Black - decision made

They are mine, all mine!

DH really likes them, the heel is perfect for both my arch and the ball of my foot, and the black makes them just subtle enough.

As DH put it, I don't feel like I'm walking with a sign saying, "Behold, citizens! I am wearing tall boots today!"

The even better news is that now I am probably breaking even on them or even making a little petty cash. I finally had the epiphany that I just don't enjoy styling my tall brown boots, so I'm going to sell those and some tall black ones that will be redundant with the Uggs. I will have to get my dose of brown in my shorter boots.

The exception will be my triple lace boots, which a) count as art! and b) are easier to style because of the great, wide expanse of black laces.

*clapping hands* I love it when things start making more sense...

Am so excited! I think I'm going to order them. They probably won't work for me, but I just have to know!

I think they're great and why struggle with brown when it doesn't make you happy?

  • Diana replied 10 years ago

    Hooray for Team Black!

Woot! Those are so great, and I'm *still* jealous of the triple lace boots. (Love these on you, so I will enjoy them vicariously - every pair of Uggs I've ever put on has made my partner go "those are hideous. I hate them with fire.")

Given a choice, I will almost always choose black so I fully support your choice!

And they are fab on you!

Those Uggs count as art too, IMO.

    Love them.

  • Jeanie replied 10 years ago

So glad you got those!  I love my tall brown boots but when I saw those Cortona's online I thought....the black is where it's at!!

  • replied 10 years ago

    Right on! They are fabulous.

YAY! I knew it. Seriously. I knew black was your bookending color. Seriously, I think the idea that a darker variation of your hair is an easier bookend than a spot on match is entirely true. Black: compliment versus compete.  Woooo hooo!

  • Janet replied 10 years ago

    Yay! I'm glad.

Got a question for you. Do you think they'd work for a 14.5 or 14.75" calf size?

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

    Great insights & great boots.

  • shedev replied 10 years ago

I love them on you, I'm glad you're keeping.

  • pastrygirl replied 10 years ago

    They look awesome on you!!

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

The triple lace boots ARE art! (I was afraid for a moment those were the ones you were getting rid of!) I love this look it's sleek & relaxed yet polished.

  • Peri replied 10 years ago

Love these on you. You look really tall!

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

I just ordered them.  Curiousity killed the cat - hopefully it won't kill me!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Whoot! They look truly fantastic on you.

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Annie, that's hilarious. When DH really hates something, I get, "WTF are those??" lol

K, that is such a good rule of thumb, and I am going to keep it in the back of my mind for the future. Now that you mention it, I also mainly wear dark indigo or black-based jeans in the winter, so the black don't chop my legs up.

Janet, if you're willing to give them some time to relax, I think it could work. My calves are 14" at the widest point, and I can get these on over jeans easily. I think they might be snug on a 14.75 calf at first, but the shaft is soft leather that feels like it would mold to the leg over time. Faster if you wanted to do a little stretching spray on the inside.

Day Vies, I can't ever see getting rid of the triple lace boots. I still remember the first time I saw the style on the Ann Demeulemeester show from like... 2008. At one point, I even tried to make a pair at home because I could not find them anywhere (horrific results, but that's how much I loved them)!

Una, now I am the one biting my nails! It's going to all come down to that shaft height...

  • Janet replied 10 years ago

Thank you for the size info, Rae! My calves are the one part of me that is larger since I started running! However, I can still fit into all of my old boots, and it's rare that a boot doesn't fit me. I've been thinking about a new low-heeled, knee-high black boot, and these intrigue me. For free shipping & returns, I think it's worth a try.
