Urban Tomboy in paper bag trousers, tee, and trainers

In our efforts to escape our (literally) packed apartment, DH and I hit up the flea market on my day off, and I could not wait to share some finds. Also, it looks like our loan is on the verge of funding and that we could (knock on wood) get our keys this week, so I suddenly find myself able to do more than worry, work, and drink. o_0

In any case, I'd noticed a fair amount of paper bag waists in Fall collections (Rodarte?), so I was super excited to find this pair of trousers for a cool fifty cents. I doubt they were the height of fashion in their retail day, but they brought a lot of nice compliments on the sales floor today. I love that these sit nice and low on my waist and will hold a roll at the ankle.

I also had been on the hunt for a pair of "trainers," which I mentally distinguish from "sneakers" or "tennis shoes" as something that looks like a more serious sport shoe. I wouldn't want to do any kind of "training" in Converse, for example, so my Ash sneakers feel more punk than sporty to me. I had already tried and eliminated wedge trainers by Puma and Ash when I found these navy Tsubos at the flea market for $10. I nearly squealed when I put them on - stay tuned for two other retail-friendly $10 foot acquisitions as well. The closest approximation still available by Tsubo is collected below - I had heard great things about their comfort, and these did not disappoint.

PS: Greg and Angie, I really love the new categories that can be added to collected items!

Aviators - Nordies
Theyskens Theory top - Rack
Men's belt - flea market
Apostrophe Petites pants - flea market
Anya Hindmarch bag - Ebay
Tsubo Drilon wedge sneaks - flea market
Cami - F21

I LOVE that top. Love love love it! And this is an all round great outfit! The shoes actually remind me a bit of the Doc Marcies except with white laces! :)

What fabulous news about your place! Crossing fingers, toes, and shoelaces for you.

Gorgeous top, I love the trousers and great buy on the sneakers too. The bag is amazing and plays against the top perfectly.

So awesome!  Paper bag waists are among my favorite looks that I just can't wear (no waist).... So I will just envy and admire you.  Love the whole look.

Paper bag waists!  I love hearing that they're coming back.  So 90s.  Love your flea market finds, I used to own a pair of Tsubos but they didn't last, they fell apart quickly.  Probably just a fluke pair.

You look very effortlessly chic.  Sorry to hear you are stressed, it doesn't show, you look beautiful.

Love pants with waists! Good combo of " vintage" and modern.

    This looks really great.

Love the top! You look great.

Paper bag waists look awful on me, sadly. Not a great look for the busty/hippy and short waisted. A shame because I think they can look really cool on others, as you demonstrate here.

    Love everything about this outfit!

Una and Janet, I think I mentioned it but didn't explain why: I normally don't like a bag waist, either. But because these sit at my hips and not my not-so-defined waist, they work where others do not. I think you both could try "paper bag hipsters," too. :)

    A good outfit!

Love it!  I am so jealous that you found paper bag waist pants that hit at the hip.  I love a paper bag waist but if they hit at my natural waist the top of the paper bag is practically touching my boobs.
