Whitecaps on an Emerald Isle

I must be feeling the oceanic influences lately, because today's outfit reminds me of the beach as much as the previous one reminds me of sharks. I really wanted to see if I could make my bootcut Sloans work for a day of retail (the issue was that I prefer how they look with a 3" heel, so I refused to hem them), so I paired them withy my comfy 80%20 hidden wedges. The white jacket fell into place as a bookending element.

Although I was very pleased with the look of the outfit, the Sloans, and the shoes (woohoo! I can do at least one high heel at work!), the jacket was horrifically uncomfortable. The faux leather did not breathe enough for me, and I felt clammy and stuck to the jacket lining all the livelong day. Real bummer, because I did good business in this outfit! I will have to keep an eye peeled for a natural fiber substitute for work.

ETA: a photo of the 80%20 Rinas I found online.

Faux leather jacet - Bebe
Emerald cami - flea market

Oh you poor dear. I cannot imagine wearing a cami under my pleather jacket either. It would be "like a saw-na up in here".

Well the good news is that you look fabulous and did some good business. And you discovered heeled boots that you can work in all day, so yay! I'm really lovin' you in the white, zowie! So good with your coloring.

Thanks for the sympathy, Claire. At first I thought I could solve the issue in the future with a sleeved top, but I was clammy in the body of the cami/jacket, too. :T

Such a cute jacket, and I so love seeing light color near your face. but I hear you! It's too horrible for words to look great on the outside, but feel -- um --- not on the inside.

Love the shoes! I like working in a heel, too, when my feet let me.

As my mother says, sometimes you have to suffer to be beautiful!

Bummer about the warmth, that outfit is FAB.

    How about this tee:

I haven't tried it, so I can't tell you how well it works. The neckline is reversible and it's on sale.

No pain no gain! ha ha well I know that is usually said in relation to exercise, but hey. You look great, despite your discomfort. I am loving the boots. Im not sure if I have seen them before Rae,any chance of a close up of them.

    Bummer :(

Coz you look so pretty... I am trying to copy you tomorrow but I am sure to have the same problem as you ... Pleather :(

  • replied 11 years ago

You look great -- sorry about the pleather issue though. Maybe add a white leather jacket to yor list to keep an eye out for.

  • Raisin replied 11 years ago

Oh yuck, too bad the jacket was so clammy! That feels the worst! You did look great though. Oh the pain of fashion, right? No, hopefully you can solve the issue.

You look fab, but it is no good if you don't feel fab! Glad you did good business in the outfit though!

Maybe like Ceit said, keep your eye out for leather, or maybe even a cotton like the Elle Moss jacket you rock!

Suffering in the name of fashion :( When it happens to me, I usually end up adjusting/fiddling with my clothes, which makes things all the worse.

You look fabulous, though, and I hope you find an acceptable replacement because I love this outfit on you!

    I really love the look!

  • pil replied 11 years ago

Imagine how well you would do business wise if you felt comfortable! Maybe it is time for a white leather jacket. For more breathability would this one be worth trying to convert to a vest like Ceit?

The beauty is, you don't look clammy! In fact, you look darned fabulous - love the white bookending with the jacket and boots and how great is it that the boots were comfy for the day? I've seen a few white fabric motos out there so keep your eyes peeled - that would definitely be more comfy for working in.

  • Joy replied 11 years ago

It's a great look. Maybe a fabric white moto or other jacket style would work , like white twill or denim but dressier than the classic jean jacket for work.

    KILLER

    Sorry you were uncomfy :(

See how well those Sloans worked here!

  • replied 11 years ago

Boo on the sweating issue, but, but, you look fantastic!

I am becoming so sensitive to that too. I am slowly replacing all of my poly blend tops for breathable fabrics ( silk, cotton and silk/cotton blends), because I literally suffocate on poly and synthetics, especially if it is humid ( even if it is cold).

As much as I love the jacket... Boo...

  • Sarah A replied 11 years ago

Love the look x a million! Hate the breathability for you :( ... Sounds like you have an item (breathable white topper) to put on the snap up if I come by a great one list. Glad it was a good business day :)

  • Tina.b replied 11 years ago

Love you in white and so clever to add the boots to match the jacket. That jacket looks amazing despite the breathability issue. Another gorgeous work look!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Thanks, all. I will remember the outfit for other events, when I don't have to move around and hustle so much.

AJ, thanks for the link! It was the jacket that does not breathe well, but I am considering the tee anyway. I don't have a white tee!

Ceit, yes. One that is not lined in poly... Hopefully it won't be as hard to find as my trench was...

Angie, thanks for pushing me. I wanted to wear them, but I had assumed a 3" heel would never fly at work!

Zap, I am glad I'm not the only one. I feel like a lone ranger passing up all the multitudes of poly items out there. :T

OMG this is so damn cute! I love the emerald on you, with the white it's so refreshing and the boots are the cherry on top. I need to sit down. :-)
