WIW a year ago & today #2

Only the citron top carries over from the original outfit, but thankfully not *all* because of fit issues. Differences:

- My style has evolved to a place where I'm more interested in softening my brights, plus I'm working on bringing UWP to the office, so I've swapped the turquoise blazer for this All Saints convertible trench jacket.

- Aside from the fact that the original pants are too small, I've also gotten much pickier about fabrics. Nothing irritates me more than wrinkled bottoms, so I'm trying to stick to manmade materials these days.

- You can't tell, but the original boots were a really cheap Ebay buy - $20 for a pair of sleek, mid-calf boots I wanted to go under pants. They were great at the time, but the synthetic linings have started to bother me with the close fit of these boots. Out they go, and in come my UWP boots, chosen for love for their look-at-me details but used under pants as well because the are just versatile like that. It's a new era of paying more for quality and versatility versus spending less but looking to fill every niche individually.

The original outfit may have been more spunky and Spring-y, but I definitely feel better in today's!

Everything is just so perfect now! The pants fit you like a dream and I love the sassy, cropped grey jacket with the citron. Wow, Rae, you look awesome!

ETA: That mint jacket will be great for some spring pastel looks too : )

Oh, Kelly, I was getting ready to donate that mint jacket, but maybe I will play around and try to UWP it up. It is not a fabric that will ever be crisp, but maybe it has a place on Fridays...

I love today's outfit Rae! That trench is very fab and I like the fit of these pants better than last year's pic. You look gorgeous:)

Your style is very nice in the first pic but gorgeous in the second shot! Those pants in #2 fit you like a glove and the gray and yellow together are beautiful!

I really like the 2012 pants and trench. Super cute and wearable.

I love color, but I, too prefer the 2012 version. Citron and gray is a very sophisticated combo, but nicely understated for the office. I'm trying to buy a little better quality in my footwear, too, Rae. I've decided my feet deserve it!

Out with the old in with the new! I like the 2012 version better also. I love looking back at these kinds of photos though. Thanks for sharing!

These comparisons are great. There is nothing wrong with last's years version but this year you just up the style quotient and make it wow.

Thank you, all. I got some compliments on the AllSaints jacket today at work, which was nice. I think the retrospective challenge may have held me back a little, too, which is interesting. Before I knew I'd be interpreting last year's outfit, I wanted to pair the trench with a bright collared shirt, pencil skirt, and some edgy boots. I like what I wore today, too, but it is still more conservative than I like because the slacks hide the boots and most of the citron top is covered. :)

I luv today's version better. It's more polished and professional. Convertible trench? I'm intrigued...tell me more.
