WIW: Back to Work with Report Marks Booties

I took Friday off to let my back mend from being rear ended. Feeling alright today, so we're back to work - ah, bittersweet! Today's outfit is actually built around this little praying mantis brooch that I picked up at a flea market for $9 (more than I usually spend on jewelry, but I love it). Also wearing the Report booties for the first time since the Italy trip. I was worried they are too big around the ankles to wear with bare legs, but I went back to look at some of your forum posts; since others have done it and looked great, I'm giving it a try, too. Do they look okay, or are my ankles too small to do this?

Bright: Lime Heart Moon Star dress - $1 via swap meet
Dark: Navy H&M sweater - gift, praying mantis pin - $9 via flea market
Structured: pencil shape skirt on dress, fitted shoulders on sweater
Waist: Vintage Rifle Strap as belt - $10 from trip to Seattle years ago
Tough: rifle strap and boots

Oh Rae - I LOVE LOVE LOVE this outfit! This is your rubric at its best! Your pin is adorable and I love that you built an outfit around it. Your cognac belt bookends your Report booties to perfection. I think these look great with bare legs and no ankle worries at all! This outfit is an 11 out of 10 for me!

Glad your back is doing ok!

You look fabulous dear Rachel, and I'm glad to hear your back is doing okay! I love the pin you picked up. So cute and it goes with the dress. That rifle strap-cum-belt is amazing! And the booties totally work with bare ankles to my eye! :)

You look wonderful Rae! The booties are great with that outfit and what a cute pin! I am glad you are feeling ok after that awful rear-end accident!

Lovely! So glad you're feeling better too...

I missed your post about the accident, thank goodness you are ok! You look amazing in your outfit and I love your booties with this. Ankles look just right! That is such an interesting and fun pin.

Love this outfit!!! Everything about it is so creative, from the rifle-strap belt to the mantis pin! Incredible. (the boots look great too!)

Thanks, friends! I am very happy with how the booties are going today - so impressed with the brand ad style. After abusing them on the streets of Italy, I was afraid that the padding on the insole had been completely flattened, but today they still feel great - this size heel seems good for my back, too.

Shannon, *thank you* for the outfit love! This outfit actually came together rather quickly, and I didn't second-guess it, which is a nice change from last week. Rubric power!

I think the booties work beautifully here, Rae. I also in love with your insect pin - what a find!
Looks like your rubric helps you a lot to stay true to yur style with spectacular result (note to myself: maybe you should stop being a lazy procrastinator and try this rubric thing for yourself?)

Rae, that is such a sensational little pin --- utterly charming. And the outfit you made out of it is just brilliant! LOVE this --- it's utterly fantastic UWP style, every element admirably chosen.

$9 for that little guy is very worth it - he is a unique addition!
Glad to see the rubric is working it's magic on making today simpler and the results stunning.
    Everything works together beautifully!

You look great in those booties and I also love the way you describe your outfit.

I love this on you! Really, really stellar Rae.

ETA -- and you are wearing that rifle-strap belt which elevates your outfit to instant style nirvana. I want one! Hey I live around guns maybe I can find one. (We call it "gun and truck country" here.)

Nice outfit! I like the way those booties look with the skirt. That pin cracks me up.

Rae, you look wonderful! I am glad you are feeling okay, too.

Your pin is SUCH a delight. And I love how you built your outfit around him. And I'm so glad you're still enjoying the Reports. I wondered about the "loose ankles" thing, too, and worried it looked weird, but you know what? I think it only looks weird to the person wearing them; it's the angle we see them at (staring down into the black hole of that opening) whereas what anyone else sees is that elegant V shape at the vamp.

I have also been finding ways to wear mine with skinnies. They won't work with my skinniest skinnies, but with a 12 inch leg opening I can just pull the jeans over the bootie and it seems to stay put with no tugging or trouble.

I find these booties really surprisingly comfortable and I even wear them with bare feet. Shocking!

I really love your pin! Awesome--- I'm hugely fascinated by mantis --- I lived somewhere even colder as a child and had never seen one until I was almost 18 and they are rare here, but very cool. I think the report booties work well with bare legs.

GORgeous! I love it and am plotting a way to make something like that work for my own body type. Must make a rubric for myself, if this is the kind of outfit that results from it!

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

This is a great outfit - the praying mantis adds to the UWP effect (because if a praying mantis had style, she would be a UWP for sure!). I really like the booties and the ankles do not look too big to me.

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

The booties, and the whole outfit, look great. Love that brooch and also the whole rubric method.

Fab outfit, loving the color palette here (navy! green! cognac!). What a cool little brooch! From the front view here the booties look fine with bare legs (would need a side view to really tell though). Glad to hear your back is feeling better!

Awsome! I LOVE the colours going on, the dress and the brooch. Just lovely!

I must admit that I had a glance of your profile when you mentioned in another wiw tread that you where afraid of getting stumpefied. I've perceived you as model tall and was really surprised that you weren't
