WIW: Black (and White) Riders

I've had these pants forever, but hadn't worn them lately. Although they are military-inspired, they are much more "dress uniform" than "combat fatigues," which is what I usually go for. They had me a bit stumped. The army green shirt seemed to bring it back to the battlefield, while the gold-button cardi seems to at once echo the military styling and soften it (or so I hope).

#2 is a close up of my valiant steed - finally, an UWP statement ring! $3 at the Paramount (heh, "mount") swap meet.

#3 is the way I used to wear these pants.

#4 is yesterday's WIW, just a variation on an outfit I'd worn recently.

Love outfit #1 Rae! I really like how the light boots bookend the light sweater - brilliant! Your UWP ring is fab!

Gorgeous! Love black and white the military vibe! and the horse ring, of course!

You are looking spring-y, Rae! The white cardi and light shoes really brighten up the dark pants. It looks more modern to me than the all black version. Great outfit. Love yesterday's too--kind of preppy UWP : )

Very nice! Especially loving #1 and #3. Crisp!

    Loving the studdy steed.

I love the way you're wearing these pants today. The light boots are so nice with it, as is the army green shirt and light cardi! Super cool steed on your finger, too. You are cracking me up with the Paramount reference! Lurve that bag, mmm, mmm!

I'm with Shannon. Such clever bookending of sweater and boots!

Thanks, ladies! By the time I got to work I was having second thoughts about these pants, but now I feel better. That always seems to happen when I'm trying to "save" an orphan.

Love those pants! #1 is very good.

I love #1, but have always had a soft spot for military-inspired items. Must date back to my schoolgirl days when I wore a blue uniform to my "Air Force" school (it was meant primarily for officers' children, though my parents were civillians).

Mad about your new steed! So very cool. And you know, of course your latest look is just fabulously on-trend, but I love the strong simplicity of your all-black earlier military avatar too --- a little Darth Vader-meets-Jedi warrior-ish (excuse me, my nerd is showing!).

    Rae,
You look lovely in those pants! That look in pic #1 is so sharp and crisp! I also like all the rest of the pictures. Such a cute ring!

  • rae replied 12 years ago

Sunita, how cool that you went to an air force school - I bet the uniforms were much sharper than the ones I had to wear!

And Manidipa, you haven't seen my Star Wars shirts, have you? No need to hide the inner nerd around me!

Perfect idea to put the olive green with the unique pants! Love #1!
