WIW: Cream of the Crop

I just discovered super cropped jackets this year, and I am all. over. it.

1 - Allsaits convertible trench (converted to crop) via Ebay, CCV Dress, London Fog Bag, Boutique 9 Booties via Piperlime clearance, Chococat necklace

2 - $1 Denim jacket, Lucky Brand Zoe jeans via Goodwill, same bag, AS tee via Archive, same boots

I really like the short over long thing when it is exaggerated like this. Finally, I feel okay leaving off a belt. :)

love the cropped tops over the longer bottoms!

And no wonder you like it! It makes you a long drink of water. With curves.

I think, in fact, that it works in part because of the curve enhancing underlayers. The dress, of course! (But what a great way to de-bombshell the dress!) And the graphic T also showcases curves with its vertical "frame" around the print itself.

    Very nifty, Rae.

Jeez! Fantastic on you. Agree that this does amazing things for your body proportions.

Oh love. Love. Love. Love this silhouette on you!!
    FAB!!

More LOVE from me! Cropped jackets look particularly good under a column of colour - as you have perfectly illustrated here in both outfits.

And denim on denim to boot. Never say never :)

    x2 KILLER.

Love both these outfits on you Rae. Please post m ore with cropped jackets - I picked up a dark denim cropped jacket and haven't figured out how to wear it yet. Need your inspiration!

WOW! Fantastic, Rae! Love these looks.

PS - you even got me searching eBay for an AllSaints convertible trench. Found one and seriously considering....

I adore this look. I haven't been able to make it work appropriate as my cropped items tend to be more RATE, but I love both ultra-cropped sweaters and jackets. These are two incredible fab looks on you, Rae!

Wow, you look amazing in those cropped jackets. Not everyone can pull off that look but you sure can!

  • texstyle replied 12 years ago

You look amazing in both! Off to cut 3 inches from my jackets. Just kidding. But I will consider shorter crops in the future!

Ahhh Rae i am super jealous! I have been looking for a denim jacket like pic #2 at thrift stores for almost 2 years now with no luck!

Love both outfits on you! I too, am a fan of the super crop. ;)

    Fantastic looks...both of them!

  • goldenpig replied 12 years ago

Wow, you look amazing! I love the cropped jackets over both the dress and T/jeans. So creative! I will have to try that with my B44 dress and my faded cropped AE denim jacket. Thanks for the inspiration!

Yay, I'm glad this gets the green light!

Suz, I love your analysis of why this works. I would not have thought about the frame effect onthe shirt, but it is kind of like a built-in column of color.

Angie, this is my first year for denim jackets, too. I could NOT find any I liked, but I suddenly found three!

Una and Nicole, I have been on the lookout for extreme crops for sooooo oh so long... the trouble is that my waist is so short that regular crops don't have the same effect. I am a happy camper now - I love how I get the structure of a jacket without obscuring the waist. :)

texstyle, I was seriously considering this for a while!

Wow what a great look for you. I particularly like the jacket over the bailey dress in #1. You look fab Rae.

    You look so cool, Rae!

  • Jonesy replied 12 years ago

These are both gorgeous, Rae! I love the first jacket in its unzipped, cropped incarnation!! It looks awesome.

  • replied 12 years ago

Oh yes this is brilliant! I love the All Saints trench converted like this. I think the key was getting them to hit you right under the bust (that's where my not-so-extreme crops hit me) thereby exposing your wasp-ish waist and creating *the longest legline known to mankind*. Srsly. This proportion is SoFab (like SoCal) on you. Run with it, and Godspeed to you my stylish sister! :)
