WIW: Defusing that Bombshell

Black with brown isn't everyone's favorite look, but I file it under the same category as wearing black with navy or white with cream. It looks a little softer and more natural to me, especially with brights. I shouldn't have worn my bag on my shoulder for this picture; the slouch is reading kind of sloppy... but I don't *think* it looks that bad in real life.

DIY July continues with Day 2's handmade item: the flip-up cat watch. I found the face alone at a swap meet and picked it up for a buck or so. Then I cobbled together a leather strap from a broken belt and some rivets. Portable photo album!

It's kitty time! That is the coolest DIY! You do a great job of defusing the bombshell. Nice mix of black and brown too! Whoa there--you got your bag at Goodwill and the boots at a swap meet? That's awesome! Great finds!

This looks terrific Rae. I need to try my Nexx blouses untucked. Sweet watch : )

That kitty watch is so cute! I love it! You are so creative! I love your outfit too and the black stripes with brown (I love black plus brown too!).

I *love* that watch! You are sooo clever. And you look awsome, too. I like the contrast between the loose shirt and the stricter skirt

Hello Nexx blouse with striped skirt! You look fab, and the kitty watch is too cute.

  • Inge replied 11 years ago

That striped skirt is just fantastic, and it looks gorgeous with your green silk shirt. Also: you rock the skirts/dresses + ankle/calf length boots, Rae, wow. The cat watch is very cool:-)

I love it all -- the blouse, the skirt...and your DIY kitty watch!

Love it! This is how I like to wear my pencil skirts, too (and now you've got me wanting to try my avocado silk blouse with my black pencil....). I peeked at this fab outfit this morning, and was inspired to pair brown shoes with my black/white/violet outfit in your honor :D

(I ADORE that DIY photo bracelet, soooo awesome!)

Rae, this is one of my faves of yours and I just did a copy shot for my YLF folder, which means I love it. I love that striped skirt. Like Aida, you're inspiring me to try my Nexx blouse with my black and white polka dot H&M skirt and booties. I wouldn't have even thought about it, until you did this. You're amazing!

As for the traveling cat photo bracelet, any time is cat time in my world, and I think this is such a fab and smart idea. I think, with everyone's DIY creativity here, we could open up an entire YLF Emporium at a place like the Ferry Bldg.

Wow. The silhouette of the shirt over the pencil skirt is fabulous! Great job taking the bombshell out of the pencil skirt; it's a beautiful look on you. I kind of want to try it now.

A de-bombshelled Princess Warrior is a sight to behold :)

Clever Kitty watch. Love this outfit. That skirt is stunning and debombshelled very nicely.
