WIW: DIY Manicure and DIY Blazer Restoration

DIY July is rapidly coming to a close and, as I have pitiful few DIYs to show for it, I tried out a Sally Hansen Salon Effects gingham manicure. I hardly even paint my nails, so it was not easy for me, and I did not do the most pristine of jobs. Still, it was good enough to leave on and pair with my gingham shirt and "boyfriend" jeans (sized up J. Crew Matchsticks).

The only reason I threw on this blazer was in hope that the single-button closure would move me waist/leg line up, but I do like how it brightens the outfit. This blazer was pilling like crazy, but I attacked it with nothing but a disposable leg razor, and now it looks new - NEW I tells ya! And I got the whole bag of razors for a buck. :)

F21 Blazer - F21
Old Navy gingham shirt - flea market
Men's belt - flea market
J. Crew Matchsticks - Ebay
Report Marks booties - Amazon
Perlina bag - Goodwill

Love your tomboy look today. The orange jacket looks fantastic and good thinking on the shave-save~
I think I will pick those nail things up to add to my niece's birthday bag - adorable.

I like it alot!! I think the shirt would look great untucked too!! Happy friday!

I love the combo of orange and plaid and how you broke the halloween connotation with adding brown and denim.

I can't wait for fall, I miss my blazers and button downs.

Rae, if you can, can you please scoot over to my frye julia thread? added new pics. I would love to have you take a second look, since you own them as well.

Aha! I was just about to ask today how to wear booties with straighter leg/non skinny jeans, and you read my mind, Rae! I shall have to try that later (still in steel toes until later this aft).

I love the blazer and gingham!

I love this outfit. Good notes on the blazer too, I have several knit jackets and they have started to pill, but I was afraid to use my sweater rock on them, I'll try the razor. You inspired me to get some size up Matchstick jeans (ebay) - they arrived and have been washed and now it's been 100 degrees.

You are one of the cutest tomboys I've seen in a loong time! Love that you rescued the blazer because it's a fab color and style. And the jeans with the booties look great (must save that combo for when my own weather cools)

The mani is adorable! Goes great with the shirt, and the orange blazer is a great pop of color.

One more roll down on the jeans? Pour moi :)

    Great look!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Angie, I unrolled them one roll, but since the boot shaft is higher on the sides, they don't SIT any lower, if that makes sense. Hm, next time I will try a different shoe because of this.

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

    Understood. Thanks for trying :)

    Still a fab look though!

Rae, them tomboy looks really suit ya! Love the nails, and I really hardly ever say that cause I'm anti-polish. But they're so derned cute. To DIY for!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Thanks, Angie, sorry I have failed you! This is why my bf jeans must hurry up and arrive; they roll up much higher and won't interfere with my boots!

Christieanne and JulieJohn, I'm glad you like the nails. It feels odd to have so much going on on my hands, but I couldn't resist trying it out for $1. :)

Rae - such a cute outfit. I've never seen anyone wear orange as well as you do. Also, how did you do your manicure??? Love it! Its a light colored gingham so not busy-looking at all!

  • ButterflyLady replied 11 years ago

Lovely :-) Like Marley, I want to know how you did your manicure - I think you did a good job!
