WIW: Inspired by Shannon, Julie, IK, & Denise

1- orange blazer with blue BB shirt. I have worn these together before, but only with the shirt layered under a chocolate dress. I thought the light blue needed to be hidden with my complexion, but Shannon wore her light chambray shirt with red dotty jacket so well that I went for it. I LOVE this blazer now, but I'm sad to see it is already pilling in several places! GRR! No more F21 knits for Rae. :(

2 - 3 - Frye Julias with jeans. Julie mentioned to me that I've only been wearing my Julias bare-legged. So when Hubs showed up after work with my legging and tickets to a baseball game (he's been driving me some since the accident), I was excited to zip the boots over some denim.

4 - Blackened florals (worn today!) Dana wore a floral top with black yesterday, so I dug out this orphaned floral cardi and donned it over my CCV dress. I wore this dress very recently, but I had no problem busting it out again. Yay for progress and not getting bored of items!

5 - Tuxedo shorts - Denise has her wonderful tuxedo stripe Rag & Bone jeans, but I didn't buy because I don't think they'd go to work. BUT, I had these shorts around, with textured stripes up the sides! Hubs said the booties "don't do much for that outfit," but I rather liked it. Good thing I can always argue that they are comfy and MUST be worn if we plan to take a walk. ;)

I could NOT pull off any of these looks but you look wonderful! And your husband has a cute thumb.

Love your style! I especially like 1 and 5 on you.

Well you know I'm gonna love #1! Gorgeous colour combination and fit on everything is beautiful. And could those Frye's be any more perfect? I think NOT! Also love the pattern mixing of the floral cardi with your striped dress - fab. Looks like you're having one fantastic stylish week!

OMG, #1!!!!! I am jumping up and down with joy over that one. It is truly inspired. LOVE!!

The others are all great, too, but I'm still swooning over that look.

    Love it all!

But #4 and #5 steal the show. KILLER.

I LOVE the shorts in #5. My best! So flattering, elegant and edgy at the same time.

Thanks SO SO much - finally feeling back in the groove of things after struggling a bit in the transition out of suitcase living.

Angie, I am glad you like the shorts! I was iffy about long shorts for many years, thinking that they shortened my legs, even with heels. I think the extreme-crop jacket solved that problem for me, and I'm stoked to be able to wear the shorts again!

Orange jacket proves that's your color! The button up doesn't say "Rae" too me but it does pair well with the skirt and blazer (too bad about the piling). And I like the shorts and jacket even with the booties (although a wedge sandal would be fab too).

You have to wear those boots at every possible chance before the heat of summer :)

All of these are great. You are certainly given a lot of diferent looks to the CCV dress.Love it!
#5 is such a great outfit, want to copy it somehow :)

OMG, #4 is totally rocking my world! Must find a floral cardi to wear with my B44 dress!!

I feel for you with the F21 jacket -- my orange knit jacket is pilling already, too, which is totally breaking my heart! *sob*

  • rae replied 11 years ago

MaryK, I totally bought a pack of disposable leg razors to try and prolong the inevitable. Poor orange jackets - may I ask who made yours?

  • CocoLion replied 11 years ago

#4 is ultra, ultra gorgeous. You look soooo coooool with that advanced pattern mixing going on. (Plus you have the bod for body con!)

I like all of the outfits Rae, very good week. I am very drawn to the simple jeans and button down look, it's got a tomboy vibe that really suits you. Plus I am flattered to have inspired your last outfit! And regarding the booties, tell hubby that sometimes you have to sacrifice cute for cool. (Sandals = cute, booties = cool).

Clapping with joy and congratulations!!! You are a true jeans and boots girl. Just wish I could insert my thumbs up into the picture also. I'm really liking that little peek of jeans between your coat and boots. Photo #3 shows off your great legs. Would make a good bass playing rocker chic outfit.

Now, I want to see those boots peeking out from under some boot cut jeans. A super cool and sleek look that will be!!

OT: That's your bass style? Do you do a walking bass line like Bill Wyman was noted for, or just a two or three note back beat?

    Cheers

    Julie

Eeek, tuxedo shorts you say? In olive green, one of my favorite colors ever?! I am green with envy over here :). That is my favorite look--you rock your casual tomboy-ish style so well!--but they are all fab. Sad about the pilling jacket :(.

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Julie, I have not been plaing long, so I am still experimenting. However, I'm leaning toward more of a rhythmic style - feels more like I'm dancing that way, which I can relate to from my "past life" as a performer.

Thanks, Jonesy! I'm so glad I didn't donate these shorts when I first struggled with them!

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

I am so copying 4. You are teaching me how to style this dress! Love all of these, and you are ROCKING the Julias!

  • Sara L. replied 11 years ago

I like all these outfits! I love the shorts in #5. Between your picture and Angie's post on bermuda shorts, I think I'm going to have to find a pair for myself this summer.

2-4 are my faves. The boots just make 2-3. Wow! And the stripes with the floral cardi is so simple but so bold. Love!
