WIW: Kitty Civvies

Just a quick post before bed. I closed today at work, but this is what I wore out to Korea Town with Hubs before my shift started. Just jeans and a tee, but I like how the tonal velvet leopard goes with the "snowcat" spotted shoes. I also ended up adding my Shoptoberfest cat pendant before I left the house. This girl loves a theme!

Also: I think I'm going to start keeping track of how my various shoes fare on the sales floor. Because although my Report Marks booties managed to take me all over Italy, my poor dogs started barking after only 6 hours of retail work! I was pretty shocked.

    Rae your outfit looks great. I like the repeat of the lighter color of the boots with the belt. Sorry about your sore feet. I guess you just don't know until you are on your feet all day just how well or otherwise your shoes will go.

    Walking and mostly standing or walking back and forth are two different beasts I think. It puts different stress on your body.

    I love this look and might just copy it if I can find a shirt as great as that!

    Great outfit - I love the belt and shoes! Ceit's right about walking vs standing - I can walk for miles but slow browsing or standing around tire me out in no time. You could try a nice cushy insole and see if that helps.

    KILLER outfit. One of my Rae-Faves!

    Working the sales floor for hours is *very* tough on your feet. I soooooooooo get it. You need to invest in cushioning insoles and body glide. May I also suggest lower heels than three inches. Two inches will make all the difference.

    I love girlie-tuff outfits like these. Great! Hear ya on the foot pain. Do you especially do more standing than walking? For me, it's the standing in place that really kills. You may need special work footware....(footwear?)

    Sorry about your footsies. I have heard good things about Danskos. A friend of mine who is a nurse swears by them.

    I hear you about the differences between merely walking and all the standing/squatting/pushing/pulling that I do at work now. There is a lot of bending to put things back on hangers, for example. Not a leisurely walk through Italy at all!

    Angie, I ordered a kitten heel Fidji off of Amazon Warehouse - hoping they might work out, as they are a really cool bright lemon color. Also trying some Crocs ballet flats that actually remind me of a United Nude pump I was drooling over. I had a pair of crocs canvas flats once, and they were very comfy.

    But what is body glide?

    Rae, body glide is a silicone gel used to prevent chafing/rubbing. I like to use it on inner thighs in the summer to prevent chafing when wearing skirts, but many use it on their feet to prevent blisters.

    I second the advice for cushioning insoles, they can make a huge difference.

    I do already have insoles. Thanks for explaining body glide. I don't know if I have a problem with bisters (yet!) but I should probably have some on hand in case.

    You may also want to try changing shoes mid-shift -- so that your tootsies have more places to hurt, lol! But different shoes stress slightly differently, and if you are cashiering, that will definitely require a standing shoe vs. a walking shoe. FWIW, I like Danskos better for standing than walking which can sometimes be treacherous if you step wrong.
