WIW: My Answer to Dropped Shoulder Tops

When Angie posted about dropped shoulder seams recently, I was one of the few nay-sayers for the trend. My teeth just get straight-up itchy to see a seam past my shoulder bones - in fact, I prefer to have my jackets sit just a little bit inward of my shoulder bones. I don't know how it happened, but I just prefer a narrower shoulder. So, my answer to the dropped shoulder...

... is a no-shoulder top! This top isn't a dolman sleeve, and it isn't a batwing sleeve. It's simply knitted into the shape of a t-shirt without interruption. There is a thin seam to make cuffs on the sleeves, but no real shoulder anywhere to be found. I wasn't sure about it at first, but it is such a nice fabric (feels like linen or linen/silk), and I was inspired by Diana's lightweight blue hand-knit sweater paired with boyfriend jeans. SO! Here I am, being a big, old copycat. Worn yesterday, out to the DMV. >^..^<

Brochu Walker sweater - flea market
Men's Belt - flea market
Sexy BF jeans - Gap
Report Marks Booties - Piperlime clearance
Bullet necklace - gift from a fab friend

Love it, and look how your cat adores you! I think the fabric, the lines of the top and the color all make this a natural on you and I can see why you like it, too. Eek! The DMV! Glad you made it through those lines. ^_^

I like these too, as long as they are not batwing/dolman sleeves. Love this look on you. So funny that a little seam can make you crazy!

Oh I am with you....those dropped shoulders drive me NUTS, the feel of the seem on my arms, the look on my already slopping shoulders, is pure torture!

You look great, as usual! I can't really see any of the details on the shirt, with the darker color and your cascade of hair, but I will take your word for it that this is not one of those dreadful dropped-shoulder duds :)!

I'm not a fan of the dropped shoulder tops I see lately either, they just look "off" to my eye. I do adore a dolman sleeve though!

Looks good, although your tresses obscure the view of the shoulder! You look ready to duke it out at the DMV. Is yours as insane as ours is?

Jayne, I'm glad I am not the only one who is a little nuts over those seams!

Ah, I should have gotten a picture without my hair in the way - oof. I guess the hair would have hidden a dropped shoulder anyway. But my shoulder OCD was appeased, and I'm betting that has more to do with my happiness than anything.

Claire, it was kind of a nightmare... We had to go back several times because each time there was something new we were missing that no one had told us about before. About 8 hours spent on DH's car total. Bleah!
