WIW: Orange, Denim Faux Pas, and Last Hurrah for Winter Items

Trying to get back in the habit of posting WIWs regularly! Especially before we go away and I create a backlog for myself...

1 - Here it is: the dreaded Denim Tuxedo! I wanted to wear this jacket with my dark jeans and, since Angie informed us that volume on volume was now okay, I'd go ahead and shuck another rule in the name of being a bit rebellious. Paired with my orange top and burgundy bag for a tonal look... y'know, to show that I'm not 100% clueless.

2 - Janet's post about unworn Winter items got me feeling sorry toward my AS jacket - yes, I have worn it a lot, but I'm sad that I probably won't bust it out as much in Spring. Also, I found these boots in my car in a plastic bag - must have got them at the swap meet, but for the life of me, I can't remember! Mystery boots! I think pic #4 is them, although wow, the color does not come through IRL.

I love a Canadian tuxedo! And yours looks fab :). Do you think you are wearing volume on top of volume in that outfit, Rae? Or do I need more tea...

How fun to find mystery boots! LOVE #2. It's freezing in Seattle, so that type of outfit is just so spot on.

Which of these is the faux pas? I cannot spot it. I really like both of these. I think you break up the denim on denim nicely with the orange top. I love your new boots. Do you freeze or lysol them first? Just curious. Second hand shoes scare me if they are not new old stock.

How come I never find mystery boots in my car???
These are both great outfits Rae. I would love to try the Canadian tuxedo but too chicken...maybe you will inspire me to try it!

All I've ever found is the odd tenner in my jeans pocket! I want to find mystery boots too! :P

Love the denim on denim look with the pop of orange :)

And the boots in #2 are fab!

You look fab with the denim tuxedo and orange top (such a great color on you!). Cute boots and I really like the outfit in pic#2 also! Pretty blue bag!!

Ooh, calling it a Canadian Tux makes me feel more worldly - I'm going with that from now on! Angie, I just meant that since volume-on-volume is OK, then the denim tux must be OK as well. I am not ready for that much volume, lol. :)

Rita, I think these were either new or returns, but I still Lysol-ed them very well. I don't buy that many shoes secondhand for just the reason you mentioned. Historically, buying cheap clothes was one way for me to rationalize pretty, clean, new shoes/boots. The denim tux is supposedly the faux pas - most guides for the double denim look say you should mix different shades of denim.

Shannon, feel free to join the rebel forces any time!

No issues with the Denim look. Love lok #2 and those boots!

How exciting to find new boots just turning up on your doorstep, practically! Let's hope they prove to be magical!

LOVE both toppers and outfit #1 is very nifty for some won't-get-caught-at-all rule flouting! :-D

    Mystery boots...LOL!

Loved both your outfits. I too am trying to wear my winter clothes one last time. Today was too warm for wool, but I have on my bright orange corduroy skirt.

great outfits! Love the detailing I can just barely see on the black skirt!

I would love to find a mystery pair of boots! I once got a mystery box of wine in the mail but it turned out my sister had shipped her wine to me accidentally. Boo. Anyway, the boots look great with your outfit!
