WIW: Repeat Offender

I wore this dress with the exact same jacket not too long ago, but today I wanted to give my pin collection some more love. I started out with just one, but they wanted to be together! I really like the pseudo-military-medal effect, but it made the outfit feel too casual. On went the dreaded pumps (I guess they ARE good for something) and a more ladylike handbag. Was it enough to keep the pins from being to punk rock?

Bright: gray AS jacket - $40 via Ebay
Dark: Cha Cha Vente dress - ~$60(?) via Macy's, with GCs
Structure: jacket, slim dress
Legs: cropped jacket length
Tough: AS jacket, pins

OMG that is such an adorable combination!! I love the kitty cats too :)

You must report back about what your office mates say about this outfit. You are really pushing the boundaries of workwear!! Love it!!

Yay - a day of kitty cat love!!! I think this outfit is perfect as it is completely work appropraite and yet definitely has some Rae flair in it!

Holy cow! I love this outfit, Rae! The kitty pins are *awesome* and the proportions make you look super tall! Gorgeous!

  • Joy replied 12 years ago

The pins add an extra level of interest and are sure conversation starters. You must have your pet photos in your wallet to share when the topic comes up.

Super cute!!! I don't think kitty pins read "punk," more adorable! You look fantastic.

My cats are giving you two paws up (each) and so am I. You can "repeat" this any time and keep it interesting at work. I love the pins with the bright-dark, Rae.

Rita, reporting back to say I've gotten three compliments so far! The jacket is the AllSaints "mini mac" - it has a zip-off bottom portion and belt as well. I don't think they have it on their site at the moment, but they have brought it back in several incarnations (I've seen black and brown leather, black and beige trench material, this one is gray jersey, and I believe I've also seen white). They crop up on Ebay every so often since there were so many colors.

And Joy, the cat pins were indeed conversation starters - I was able to hear a lovely story about the cat-love of a coworker's life (last week was the anniversary of the kitty's death, so it was like a nice memorial speech for him - really cool).

Fabulous! You are giving me more ideas for my b44.I like the pins and think the pumps brought the outfit for the business part of business casual.

Rae, I love the dress with the cropped jacket. I would expect the crop to be too short for the long dress, but it's perfect! Grey is better than black in a lot of ways - more visual contrast and less harsh for work. SO perfect! In fact, I may copy...

Super outfit! I love the pins and the cats :-) The boots in #3 are gorgeous!

  • AJ replied 12 years ago

That jacket always makes any of your outfits fabulous! The kitty pins are too cute for words! You have my permission to repeat this combo as many times as you want!!

  • MsMary replied 12 years ago

    Purr-fect! Love it!

  • rae replied 12 years ago

Una, I'm digging hard on this short over long thing. So much so that I really want another slim, long-ish dress, so I can use the combo as a FFBO formula. Copy away! I know you have the pieces to do it. You, too, Celia. :)

The kitty pins are so cute on the jacket! I like the look teamed with the pumps but I would dig it with booties too!

  • Jonesy replied 12 years ago

You look fab! The proportions are perfect, and I love the grouping of the kitty pins.

  • JennyAnne replied 12 years ago

Your pin collection cracks me up, in a good way! Yay for you for accessorizing with them. I think the pumps are the perfect finishign touch.

  • replied 12 years ago

This is a fantastic silhouette on you Rae! I might like the cluster of pins on a plainer lapel, though. BTW I totally lied when I said my cropped jackets hit me in the same spot yours do. I've been wearing them recently, and they're not even *close*. Yours are super awesome/super short, mine are just the garden variety. Oh well, we can't all be super stars I guess! ;)

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Hee, those pins are more cute than anything, love 'em! ^^ FAB cropped jacket, I am in serious need of some that are super cropped like that. Looks awesome over the midi length!

  • rae replied 12 years ago

Claire and Aida, I'd never really seen anything this cropped before until just recently. Then they were suddenly everywhere, so I ended up with 4 (two for work, two casual)! I hope you can find some - I love how they are short enough to show the waist curve.

I love the pins, Rae. I like personal touches in workwear -- it "humanizes" the environment somehow. Higher dress boots would work for work, too, if they're not too warm.
