WIW: Something Corporate

As it says on my Facebook page, today is the first day of the last week of my life as a bank employee! Woot!

There is a meeting to set up for today, so I went slightly more formal than usual in a *fully* tucked shirt (blast from the past!) and a jacket and slacks at the same time.

H&M blazer - flea market
Sleeveless plaid shirt - flea market
BR Sloan pants - Banana Republic
Dr. Martens Marcie boots - Shoebuy
Ted Baker handbag - flea market
Tiger pendant - Florence, Italy

Bonus casual shot from last night's movie date. DH asked, "When do you think you'll wear your sexy jeans again?" Oof, ok, so I wore one of his favorite pairs last night. And you know what? I missed my boyfriend jeans... they feel so much more current to me right now.

Mechanic's shirt - flea market, home tailoring
Hudson Hendrix jeans - Ebay
Belt - flea market
New cat ring - flea market
Boutique 9 boots - Piperlime clearance

Well hello Ms. Corporate! Looking good - and how does it feel to be starting your last week?

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Pretty darn good, I must admit! Though it will feel better *next* Monday, which will be my 3-day countdown!

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

You should wear your favourite work outfits this week, Rae!

This outfit has a '70s feel to it. Nice!

We do have to throw our hubbies a bone from time to time :)

  • MsMary replied 11 years ago

Love the work outfit! And yes! Wear your faves this week and go out in a blaze(r) of corporate glory!

Too funny about missing the boyfriends!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Great idea! And I don't think there are anymore meetings that will get in the way of a favorites week.

I have a feeling I will see a lot more of my boyfriends once I'm out of the office. :)

  • Amy replied 11 years ago

You look great, Rae! haha @ MaryK's "blaze(r) of glory"

Best wishes with this new leg of your journey!

  • KathyL replied 11 years ago

You look great in your corporate and casual wear! Best of luck this last week. Can't wait to see your favorites this week.

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

Look at you! I missed a lot of the posting when you made the decision to leave the corporate world, but your wardrobe is more than ready to take off in a new direction!

I don't know if you're the same, but I FEEL sexy in my BF jeans in a way that I don't in fitted jeans. It's something I've been puzzling over, since I think it's key to my style somehow.

  • CocoLion replied 11 years ago

I still mix between bf and fitted jeans, just so I don't get sick of one look too too quickly.

You look so great in that style of bootcut pant (both your work and movie night outfits), it would be a shame to let go of them. It is simply a more classic look, dated.

I missed all of your posts about leaving your job. So I am clueless. But congratulations!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

    Thank you, Kathy!

Una, I very much agree! It feels sexy in the way that lounging around in one of DH's tees does. Much moreso than the tight jeans, actually. Why is that?

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 11 years ago

I didn't respond on the previous thread so wanted to say congratulations for having the guts to chase down your dream.

I love the outfits and wish you all the best in your new adventure.

  • Jamie replied 11 years ago

Congrats on the next phase of your journey! Your outfit today is terrific, and I'm looking forward to the rest of your "last week" outfits if you decide to post some more!

  • replied 11 years ago

Blaze(r) of glory... hahahahahahahahahaha.. Too funny!
    I love both outfits!

  • Mo replied 11 years ago

I agree, pull out all your fave 'work' looks now and relish them before moving on to a more casual style. I think you're going to do great. Can't wait to see how it all pans out for you!

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Rae, I missed the posts where you made your decision, but I am so thrilled for you and can't wait to see what's up next. This is such an exciting transition.

  • Jem replied 11 years ago

Congratulations! You look both dressed up and dressed down!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Thanks, everyone. Not just for the kind words but for being an inspiration. There are so many women on YLF who work at jobs that they enjoy - from Suz and her writing (Hi, Suz!) to Diana's labwork to Janet's art... it really made me believe that it *can* be done.

For those who missed the post about The End, I have decided to leave the wealth management field after 4 years. My current position really allowed me to see where the growth opportunities are and, while I know I can do any job *well* if I put my mind to it, I know in my heart that I can only reach full potential in a more creative industry. This Saturday, I did my first closet consultation to help my friend shop her closet, and it was a blast! Hoping to do more consultation, personal shopping, Ebay selling, etc. A friend also knows a stylist working in the area, so I hope to at least pick her brain if not learn a thing or two. Feels good to be jazzed about the future!

  • KathyL replied 11 years ago

Congratulations on your first closet consultation!! That is so great, and I am so happy for you. I think you are so smart and brave for realizing where your talents and passions are.

  • MNsara replied 11 years ago

I knew you were looking forward to a career change, but somehow missed the fact that you're actually lauching yourself in that direction!! Congratulations!!

I'm so thrilled you've made the first steps toward a creative, fulfilling career :-)

Oh, yes, nice outfits, too ;-) Someday it will be a novelty to dress 'corporate'. . .

  • Jonesy replied 11 years ago

A very exciting week ahead, for sure!! MaryK has captured it perfectly! You look good in your jacket and pants, and super-duper fab in your date night duds.

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

Congratulations on following your dream Rae! You should live it up with your corporate looks. I love what you did with that mechanic's shirt!

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

Rae, look fab! I wanted to tell you that I follow the "Accidental Creative" and "The Art of Non-Comfority" websites and podcasts. You may already know these writers, but their ideas for authentic entrepreneurial living have been helpful to me (I say, as I spending a bazillion hours creating my own WordPress site).

  • goldenpig replied 11 years ago

Congrats on pursuing your dream Rae! So proud of you! It takes guts to shift directions and pursue your happiness! Sounds like the first closet consultation was a success! I really admire your dedication and wish you more success and happiness than you even imagined!

Now, wear those work pieces in with your more casual pieces! It would be a shame to let the Blazer of Glory sit idle! I wear a lot of my work pieces to MOTG and sometimes even vice versa!

  • ramya replied 11 years ago

Congrats Rae... And do dress up every day f the last week... I did it and it somehow feels sooooo great to do it :)

Oh yeah you rock the corporate look :)
