All the pressure on my sinuses must be seeping through and pressing on my brain - yes, that's me in flats. On a work day. In my defense, I feel very blah and halfway don't care if this is too casual... there is a chance I want to leave early and come home to sleep. Who knows what I will think when I see this picture in a few days, but I think it looks alright!

You look GREAT, Rae, sinus sorrows notwithstanding. While I do wish you better soon, I can't help squealing over the stripes plus plaid combo, and the fab Friday shoes that perfectly match the bag. I like that your taking on the cold head on in rugged, nothing-fazes-me attire.

Oh, so cute! Maybe that's why wear flats all the time. Heels make my head hurt! This is a great casual Friday outfit. Your jeans are nice and dark and is that gingham I see? I love a black or navy gingham check on a dark-haired girl: so crisp! The striped bag and cool jacket round the outfit out nicely. I hope you feel better, and this outfit will look just as cool when your sinuses drain. ;)

I hope you feel better soon. Try some steam inhalation to clear those sinuses (I stand over a tea kettle or pot of boiling water). Really spicy food helps too!

Looks like a fun way to dress when not feeling one's best - kinda comforting as well as stylish. I always gravitate to earthy tones when feeling casual. The shine on the shoes is a nice POP!

Thanks, Sunita. I will try the steam - I felt better after my morning shower, but worse now. The steam must be it. Mmm, already dreaming of spicy Thai soup for lunch now...
Claire, it is indeed black gingham. I like the larger-scale gingham pattern a lot; I'd love to find more colors sometime, too.
Happy the flats are passing the YLF test so far!

Sorry about your sinus headache. Those are the worst. I find that any pain in my head -- sinus, teeth, earache, anything like that -- makes it very difficult to function. Try steam and rinsing your sinuses with salt water (some people use a Neti-pot, but I just use the squeezy bottle and squirt the salt water up my nose. It's horrible, but it works).

Neti-pot is a godsend. I've been doing Neti-pot and Mucinex combined to try and make sure that whatever infection in there doesn't keep building up. I know it will definitely shorten the length of the illness, but in the mean time... you are right; head pain makes things difficult.

You look great! And you are obviously not sweltering in the heat wave and drought that we are dealing with...
Don't knock flats. I've avoided heels and pointy toes for years (I do wear them, but not regularly), and I have straight, strong, healthy feet. So many women my age and older have feet that are twisted and in pain from wearing heels on a daily basis... And I can strut my sandals all summer (and I do, until it's absolutely too cold to wear them), so very glad that I can actually look good in them.
So here's to flats and open sandals and flip-flops (my favourites are rolled black leather ones) and any other shoe that doesn't try to re-engineer our feet.
Having said that, I absolutely love my 3" heel black patent pumps, but they are saved for special occasions.

Ohh sorry to hear you're not feeling well, hope it clears up for the meetup!! I LOVE this outfit, it feels very Rae to me, even with the gold boat shoes (which, may I just say, YAY they look so cute on you!) because they add just the perfect little bit of prep to your otherwise more typical rugged styling. I think when you look back in a few days you'll still like the outfit :}
