WIW: Turquoise with Yellow & DIY July

I have loved seeing Natalie's turquoise and yellow outfits so, now that Manspiration Month is over, I'm going girly in a dress, flowered bag, and happy colors.

I'm thinking July will be my DIY month, since I'm still enjoying having a daily challenge to keep me on my toes and keep me from mindless internet browsing (oh, I'm still browsing, but in a more calculated way). I'll either have to wear or work on a DIY project every day.

Today's DIY is a necklace and bracelet set I made from little ten-cent charms I picked up on vacation in New York. Travel cannot keep us away from swap meets, so it was natural to go looking for some cheap thrills. All I did for this project was take apart an old bracelet that was too delicate and simple for me (and also covered in bells). A few tigers later, and I wear the bracelet much more!

Gorgeous! That dress is beautiful on you. I love the pairing of that blue with the grey, and that bag is perfect with it.

I have a lot of DIY planned for July too! Can't wait to see your projects!!

Love this combination of a girly dress and bright bag with the rugged boots and blazer. Totally Rae!

BTW - I think we enjoyed Manspiration Month as much (if not more) than you did! Thanks for challenging us as well.

I love the way you put your unique style stamp on every ensemble you create. I aspire to have such a distinctive style - thanks for being an inspiration! Also, I'm now officially keeping my eye out for some bear charms to send your way ;).

Oh my, that DIY is awesome! Great, strong outfit coming out of Manspiration Month, Rae.

Love this, Rae! So fun to read all your posts on self-imposed challenges!

Beautiful dress love the combo with grey jacket & additional pop of colour in the bag. Cute bracelet.

Hello Gorgeous! I love these colors together: Turquoise and yellow and then you top it off with the jacket and boots and add a new dimension. Love it, Rae! As a Metal Tiger, I love the little pieces you picked up from the NYC swap meet and what a great thing to do when you travel, because then you'll have precious memories of those places!

I think between your jewelry DIY and Claire's painting and dye jobs, you two could go in business together.

Yay for DIYers! I still remember your review of ELF mineral makeup (the color sadly was too pink for me). If you're looking for a project, http://www.instructables.com/i...../?ALLSTEPS I order from TKBtrading.com which also has some great recipes. Good luck with your DIY month :)

Smashing turquoise dress Rae. Can't stop looking at it!

And I'm continually impressed with your DIY skills. You could start selling your projects on ETSY.

  • Diana replied 11 years ago

I love the moody greys and blues with the pop of yellow! And very excited about DIY July.

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Laura, that is so cool! Something I never thought could be done at home. I still have a good amount of mineral makeup at home, but I am keeping this DIY in mind for sure!

Denise, I *may* have been plotting some ideas for Etsy. The trick will be actually parting with the creations instead of hoarding everything for myself!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

OK, now that manspiration is over and I am not plotting outfits all day... I'm kinda bored. So far I have the below planned for this month:

    - my burgundy dress pants
    - cat bag
    - a couple simple skirts from fabric laying around my apartment
    - printed trench coat
    - review of RIT color remover
    - ombre puffer

Anyone have a fashion DIY or craft-related how-to they'd like to see this month?

I'm loving the pretty girly transition just as much, Rae! This outfit is a solid 10 and that turquosie is sensational on you.

  • goldenpig replied 11 years ago

Wow Rae! I love the turquoise dress (naturally!) and yellow bag and the grey boots and jacket! I can't wait to see what you come up with for this month!

  • Jem replied 11 years ago

I love the turquoise with the yellow! That dress is fantastic!

  • Jonesy replied 11 years ago

Love the blue dress, especially with that bright yellow bag!

  • Kari replied 11 years ago

Wow, I didn't even notice the mossy tones in the agate print dress until this outfit. Rae, this is an amazing pairing! This is such an incredible stunner.

  • Ana replied 11 years ago

Oh yay! The waterprint dress. I love this one, Rae! Can't wait to see your DIY looks this month.

  • goldenpig replied 11 years ago

Chiming in again to say that I just love the matching grey boots and blazer with the agate dress! I never would have thought of grey with the yellow and turquoise combo. I think am going to have to copy your look sometime with my cognac boots and leather jacket.

  • lyn67 replied 11 years ago

Oh, this just outsanding-not only the colour combo, but the Julia bootts(and matching their light color with the blazer), for sure:-))
Still in boots, Rae???????? We are hit by a heat wave here, seems so unnatural to see you in boots, if not winter there???:-))
DIY jewelery set is so lovely, you're so skilled!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Hehe, I was copying you with the yellow/turquoise, so it's only fair to copy the matching jacket/boots. :)

Lyn67, it's always autumn in office air conditioning... I'd feel silly wearing tights in summer, so bare legs and boots it is!

You are just too fab and inspirational for words! here is a DIY idea although a scarf from a tee may be too gearish:
