WIW + WIWTW

#1 - Worn to DFS today. Midi-gating the heat by rolling the waistband on this gray midi to make it below-the-knee length. Unfortunately I noticed a strange oil-like stain/spot all up one side of the leg today. Not hugely noticeable, thank goodness, but that's the end for this skirt. I wonder if a chapstick got left in the wash?

#2 - What I wanted to wear (but was too hot to wear)... $1 Bebe shadow stripe dress pants with rose gold Muubaa. Tried on the pants after washing, and both DH and I really like them. I hope bootcuts and flares do make a comeback, because I honestly did feel much taller and slimmer than normal here. Will have to rely on sparkly jacket for the trend factor until then.

PS: I feel bad for posting when I have been so scarce - I think I mentioned before that I am playing Diablo 3 with DH as part of his birthday gift. It is super fun, but it is cutting into my fashion time fo sho! I am coming for a peek here whenever we take a break, lol.

    Midi-gating!  lol!

Love both looks.  I'm sorry the grey skirt is done for!  I appreciate yellow w/ grey, even though I don't wear it.  #2 is amazing, and I hope you get to wear it soon!  I'm tired of skinnies, which never suited my body shape anyway, so seeing flares and bootcuts is a fresh change to my eyes --- and I always love my wide legs!

Being on scarce on YLF to bond over games with DH?  Totally worth it!

  • Adelfa replied 10 years ago

Oh, you look wonderful in the flares!

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

Love the wide legs with the rose jacket- very elegant!

  • jurocha replied 10 years ago

It's a pity Look #2 stayed home due the weather... Don't you hate it when the weather don't cooperate with your fashion plans?

Ah, have fun with Diablo! It's truly addictive! (Diablo II and Diablo III survivor here... Hehehe)

Great look with the rose gold jacket!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

You look fantastic in #2 -- the gold jacket's going to be a winner. And you will get another tube skirt, pronto! In my books, these are necessities and if I lived in your climate I probably wouldn't wear a whole lot else for half the year!

  • unfrumped replied 10 years ago

Your legs are a mile long there! Go bootcuts.

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Those pants look wonderful. You will bring back boot cuts and flares singlehandedly because everyone who sees you wearing these will want some.

  • pil replied 10 years ago

You have officialy confirmed that I live in geezertown as I have never heard of Diablo.....on the other hand I love the drape of your yellow top with that gray skirt. Bootcuts and gold +++

  • replied 10 years ago

Such a shame about the skirt as you look great in it. You look chic and casual at the same time. Won't the mark come out in the wash?
I love the flared pants in 2, your legs look a mile long! Shame the weather didn't comply. Save the outfit for another day.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

I'm loving this leg of your style journey, Rae. You are "growing up". It's a good match for your career in the fashion industry.

I'm glad you kept the rose gold jacket, and hope you wear it to the wedding. Perhaps it will feel right on the day.

The bootcuts look smashingly '70s. Both outfits are an 11 out of 10.

  • MsLuna replied 10 years ago

Rae! As always, you look amazing in both outfits, but I must say, the Flares (#2) are my favourite. You look so tall and the jacket adds an edge to the outfit. Also goes well with your hair ;)

Like you, I'm hoping that Flares make a comeback as well. I recently rediscovered flared jeans (the low rise Artist variety from American Eagle) and I've forgotten how tall and slim they make me look. In addition to the look, I found them to be a lot more comfortable than slim pants (I still love slim pants, though), mainly because flares look AMAZING in platforms! My feet are very fussy and I can't wear anything over 2 inches of heel. But I love my heels, and the wearable chunky platforms I like really work with flares!

And I'm totally SQUEEING right now after finding out you play Diablo 3. I've taken a long break from it but came back 2 weeks ago when the expansion was announced. I have a paragon lvl 40 DH and paragon 10 wizard. OMG... That made me sound like a total nerdball ;)

  • donnat replied 10 years ago

I love those flairs, they do make your legs a mile long.

  • Janet replied 10 years ago

You and I will team up to bring back boot cuts! You look great.

  • JulieJohn replied 10 years ago

Tee hee, video games with a lover are a great pastime. Hubs and I recently did a pinball day (virtual), and we played "The Book of Unwritten Tales" which is hilarious. Snacks are always included, which amps the fun.

I love you in those flares, inspirational! I was dithering as to whether to try turning some new bootcuts into flares, but you have decided me: flare on! Your hot weather look with skirt and yellow blouse is chic, cool, and pretty.

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

    lol @ Midi-gating :3

I am glad you kept your rose-gold topper. So Rae!

  • FlorenceFearne replied 10 years ago

At least on my shape, bootcuts/flares look better with flats than skinnies do, hands down. So they're a classic to me. You look amazingly leggy in your pair in #2.

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

No apologies needed!  I love the flare outfit, I think it is fresh and modern, I would never guess $1 pants.

LOL midi-gating the heat you are a clever girl!  I always love your headlines as well.  And is the stain that noticeable?  The skirt looks so good on you.  Maybe it's time for a loungewear skirt?  With a floppy tee?

  • Hil replied 10 years ago

Beautiful outfits, both! Is there no cleaning the skirt? I have found that dishwashing liquid neat on an oil stain sometimes works really well on cleaning an oil stain.

  • shedev replied 10 years ago

You do look really tall in the flares.

  • Peri replied 10 years ago

Okay, now I am extremely happy. No one can tell me that bootcut/flare is dated if the most fantastic Rae is wearing them.

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Yay for the flares love - Angie did it first in her bootcut suit!

*Waving at Jurocha and Katie* Great to know there are a couple gamers around here. DH and I waited for the XBox release, so we are only about level 20 right now. I chose Demon Hunter - funny enough DH thought to snap a pic of our characters in our gear after each night of play, so I will have a Diablo WIW set someday. Maybe I'll post to the OT, lol.

Suz, I have the circus stripe VC in my cart in petite, but I'm hesitating. I still have my gray/black striped midi that is pilling a smidge but still serviceable for the rest of the hot season. I think I might wait until next spring/summer to replace just to be sure I still love the look and didn't burn out on it by then.

Angie, it makes me smile to hear you say my look is growing up. I've been craving that a little... makes me feel more successful and like I'm in motion instead of stuck where I was out of college. I had your words in my head while browsing a flea market this morning... interesting to choose things from the perspective of "will this discredit me as a fashion 'authority.'"

JulieJohn... why have we never added snacks to the mix?? Brilliant. And I cannot wait to see your flares.

Denise and Hil, unfortunately the skirt just came OUT of the laundry. I'm sure the dryer baked it in. Will give the suggestions a shot, but I am not hopeful. :T

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

I love, love, love, the flares! You look a million miles tall :)

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

And it made me smile reading your response to my comment. xo
