Crops with Chelseas & Harsh Realities

Tried out one of Angie's suggestions for Beatle boot styling with my Uggs in chelsea mode. DH hates the booties exposed like this and thinks they should only be worn under pant legs, but I thought it looked okay. Ideally I'd prefer a rolled leg instead, but I'm not mad at the look!

What I am kinda mad at is this shirt - the larger size of the one that ripped the first time I wore it. I figured there was no. possible. way. this one could rip with how big it feels on me but... you guessed it, the back seam failed in the exact same spot. I saw online reviews saying this happened to others, too. I'm really sad, because I really do love the color and the sheer details. :_(

In other news, 11am in the alley create crazy hipster beard shadows.

Love this whole outfit! That is so cool that the boots are convertible! I like how you've styled then here, with the sliver of skin in between the leggings and booties. Too bad about the sweater! Hope you can get a refund. LOL about the hipster beard!  That "sweetheart" necklace is so cute!

I like the colour and fluid fit of the big drapey shirt. It looks like chiffon, which is one of those sensitive little fabrics that readily fall apart at the seams.
What if you keep it and have the back seam reinforced because my bet is that the next replacement will rip as well. Penny.

    Such a shame!

That is such a shame about the shirt. I like the booties with the crops!

Liking the booties with the crops.  And I a very sorry about the shirt.  Very disappointing.

Booties with the crops look great, Rae! And that is a real pain about the shirt -- so sorry!

What a shame about that beautiful blouse. Does Nordstrom ever just pull an item like that and stop selling it? You are definitely enjoying - and looking great in - your new boots!

How frustrating how the blouse - I do like Penny's suggestion of having the back seam reinforced. You look gorgeous in that colour and I love the style. Would be nice to be able to wear it over and over.

Adore the crops with the boots!

Love the booties with the crops!

So frustrating about the shirt! That is the silk one, right? I think I had it in my cart for a while and removed it after reading about your first experience.  Is it the actual seam (thread) that is coming undone, or is it the fabric next to the seam?  If it's the former, then it's a quality control issue most likely and could be fixable, but if it's the latter, I'd say that's probably a combo of design flaw (putting an unnecessary seam at a stress point) and quality issue (weak fabric) and it's also not fixable.

Such a shame about the shirt! You look spectacular in this though! So glamorous and stylish.

I like the booties with the capris.  Too bad about the shirt - the color is really great on you.

I am seething at the bad, bad, bad quality of this shirt. It's a gorgeous colour on you, Rae.

Yeah. My hubs is not into dark booties worn with skirts/dresses/cropped pants either. Not his favourite look at all. But I wear it from time to time too. You look fashionable and fun.

I love the color of that shirt.  How frustrating!!

A shame about the top. I'm sure you returned it by now but I wondered if it could be saved with a different type of seam like a french seam.  It sounds like the fabric is such a delicate weave that it frays and pulls out of the seam.
I once had a pair of jammies that did that while I slept.  I woke up in the morning and they were completely shredded, every seam pulled apart!

Dang! I love that shirt and even saw it at the store but after what you'd said I passed it up.

Love the boots this way. I am actually struggling with skinnies and ankle boots like my Rag & Bone booties when the skinnies are long. They can't go over the boots but look weird tucked in. And I can't go bare skinned in our weather.

I think I need to start a new thread....

Love this look and everything about the shirt except its quality.  Boo!  Such a stunning shape and color.  YLF.

Oh, I like everything about this outfit.  Those boots are so cool - I love the options that those boots provide - and I think they look great with the crops - that peak of skin softens the look (I think.)  Also - the blouse is gorgeous - but man, how frustrating!  Have you decided what you're going to do with it?

  • JulieJohn replied 10 years ago

Bummer about the blouse, but that color and silhouette are perfect for you.

I love this look with the booties and crops, maybe Mr. Rae will come around. I think these pants would look good with shorter booties too, like some pointy ones that just come to the ankle. Showing more leg. Not sure if those are called booties, they should have a different name. Bootlets, perhaps.

More boot love! I think they look great paired with the crops. The fact that they are the same color, fairly low contrast with your coloring and have heels really makes them work.  And I had no idea how gorgeous you looked in teal until I saw you in that shirt!  It is hugely disappointing that it is not wearing well.  Hopefully you'll be able to find a reasonably close replacement.
