Team Wear: True Religion Camerons & More Stripes

Wasted no time in breaking out the True Religion Camerons now that I've decided to keep them. When I put them on this time (and announced that the light wash Sexy Boyfriend jeans had already sold on Ebay), DH even said that he doesn't mind these at all - yay, upgrade! Paired them with a recently thrifted belt I only now got around to cleaning - yay, $3!

I first tried a rust tank and then a pastel top with a saddled tiger print I got while out shopping with denise, but I ultimately liked the bold stripes best with the fading and rips of the denim. Maybe I'm on a stripes kick or something. Worn to eat lunch and stroll along the beach with hubby.

Rusty Stripes

I don't have much time, but I was really excited to share this outfit before the holiday weekend gets into full swing. My mother got me this great blazer in lieu of an Easter basket this year. She also passed down this necklace, which she received from my dad, this passed Valentine's day. I am totally thrilled with how well the stripes work with rust! Happy Good Friday to those who celebrate. P.S. What is up with that car parked in my fashion alley?? ;-)

Speaking of watches... fit rules for bracelet styles?

Inge's Link Love posts regarding watch trends reminded me of a question that's been niggling at me: is it ok to wear "boyfriend"/ "bracelet" style watches loose like a bangle bracelet? Or must they be fitted, lest I look like a complete watch amateur?

I have never bothered to shorten my watch straps, because I prefer the look of the chunky watch hanging low on my arm - as opposed to adding bulk to my dainty wrists, which I like to show.

Is there etiquette for this? Or even if there is, any chance it's like wearing white after Labor Day?

Oh, Joie

A long, hard day at work was made easier with the slouchy Joie pants from Shoptoberfest and the YLF Fab Find Gold Button Sweater Jacket. The jacket has been on the DL for a while because the buttons started gaping (no guess as to why, since my bust size has not changed). I just now got around to sewing up the front opening - I like it best done all the way up like a pullover, anyway, so I figured that would be an appropriate fix. Paired with cognac belt and booties, because earth tones help mitigate the 80s influence of the pants in my eye.

"Taupe Gear"

Found this 100% leather jacket by To The Max (a BCBG brand) for $1 and could not pass it up when I saw it has a cotton-lined body and mesh-lined sleeves. It is not the best quality of leather and squeaks a tiny bit... but it's distressed! With rivets! And a racing stripe!

I was picturing it thusly a la Burberry for fall, but I had a sudden urge to wear it out to see Dr. Shrink today, so I went for a moto-sports-inspired look with skinnies and boots. Since I'm not tall, I prefer my cropped jackets with a column of color. The sun decided to make an appearance, so I went with spring-y light grays and black patent. Yes, I suppose black and gray are my idea of spring colors... lol.

Ombre Clash

Post and run from the road, since I am visiting a friend! After I was dessed, I realized there are many clashing elements that may not be everyone's cuppa. Black with brown, olive with turquoise... Still nkt sure if it is 100 percent a fashionable look, but I am finding I care more for what I like versus what is in these days. I think I have also decided I want to grow out my bangs and/or sideburns to help with more jawline definition, but that is another story. :-)

True Religion Cameron Missouri Fit Review

I love 100% cotton distressed jeans, and I wanted a slim BF jean that DH might not hate so much, so after Angie and Mo's success with the cameron, I gave them a try in this super distressed finish (Missouri wash). DH did not end up liking the rear view or the whiskering, but I thought I'd add some pics to the forum for anyone else who might consider the fit.

I really love the wash! The fabric is soft and comfy, and the blue has that absolutely perfect, lived-in look.

The fit is strange, though, compared to what I've read about the Camerons. 27 is my normal size in fitted jeans right now, and these are hardly boyfriend fit at all - just a bit of room in the thighs, and that's it. I think a 26 would fit like a regular skinny. I might have actually tried the 26 to see if DH liked the rear view better, but they were sold out.

Anyway, there it is! Beware of varied washes! And if you aren't sure, order multiple sizes before they're gone. :)

More Fun with the Ella Moss Moto

I actually started out with my galaxy oxfords, but the minute I saw the Ella Moss moto, it jumped out of the closet.

I seem to keep on doing a sort of "stormy sea" theme with this jacket (the first time I was inspired by sharks). Today I paired it with my (sea) snake bag and pumps, (ocean) blue Sloan trousers, and pink pearl necklace. I guess I am a beachy, California girl underneath the UWP after all. ;)

At first I was afraid the moto would be too casual for work, but it has brought several compliments from coworkers. I feel very lucky to have snagged it at the sale price in my size - all thanks to a fortuitous announcement on the YLF forum!

Another try with Bebe... Anyone going to Danier?

I wanted to try my way to jack it 1 more time with long sleeves and the zipper undone for work. Sadly, I am clammy as ever. So sad because I got lots of compliments on the jacket again today. I spoke with Danier about the leather jacket I posted yesterday, but they could not tell me about the shoulder measurements or lining material. I don't want to send anyone out of their way, but if anyone is headed to the store, maybe you would be able to check on this item for me? It is style 104020169. http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....his-jacket I would love you forever! ;)

Solid Snake

It was a busy, triple-points day on the job, so I was happy to wear something comfy, cool, and easy. Not exactly the super-soldier spy of the Metal Gear video game series (Solid Snake), but the snake theme did make me feel sort of "solid" in a geared-up and ready-to-go way.

I sure am glad I kept these pieces - I don't feel like this outfit is the height of creativity, but it is easy and breezy and feels like me. Who says every outfit has to be work? Sometimes a gal needs some effortlessness in life. :)
