Glass Slipper Hunt Round 2: Galaxy Oxfords

I got my Solestruck order today (fast!), and tried out two more Miistas. The blue ombre booties were not comfy at all and instantly deemed "clown shoes" by DH.

The oxford version of the original galaxy booties are much more comfy. DH says they make my feet look bigger from the side but not enough to bother him. Final verdict from him: "I think I kind of like them; they're interesting."

Trying to show them with all my signature colors represented as well as a variety of bottom silhouettes. I forgot to do skinnies. I am a WEEE bit bothered by the foot profile - trying to decide if my eye will adjust. I do really like them from the front, though, and it seems like the lining is leather.

Now... I am holding that thought, because I still have blue Danskos and rafia sneakers coming on Friday!

soooo much better. love the oxfords. the sparkle is restrained but still eye catching. i am also still in lust for the raffia oxfords. would like to see a shoe-off.

  • Debbie replied 11 years ago

The oxfords look great on you! Looks like they will play well in your closet.

  • cciele replied 11 years ago

    I really like them!

  • Ginkgo replied 11 years ago

Love them on you! They go with the colors in your wardrobe and look good against your skin and they're tomboyish!

  • L'Abeille replied 11 years ago

Now try them on with your rose print skirt. If that doesn't work proportion-wise, toss the skirt.

  • Girl X replied 11 years ago

Those are awesome! I thought the booties were great but these are even better - and they're more comfortable - and hubs approved? Sounds like the glass slippers have been found!!

  • Ginkgo replied 11 years ago

Rae, where are the raffia sneakers from?

  • Mochi replied 11 years ago

I like them a lot, especially in Pic 4. High potential and comfort will not be an issue.

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Ginko, I ordered from Nordies so I could use my discount. These are them:

The oxfords are 100x cooler than the boots, love them!

  • deb replied 11 years ago

    Those, I like.

  • Ginkgo replied 11 years ago

Thanks Rae! Hope the raffia sneakers come back in my size, meanwhile I'll be watching to see how you like them. But you've got to keep these oxfords -- they really elevate a simple outfit

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

I kind of REALLY love them! The profile doesn't bother me (I feel you), I am guessing the lightness on the toes is what's doing it here. But they have the perfect mix of sleekness and manness. They do appear to work with all of your signature sours, and actually even seem to function as a semi-low contrast shoe on you (Magic?). But if the length is an issue, definitely consider that with a shoe like this you WILL be getting plenty of foot attention. Just sayin'. I think they're sweet and I would put up with that on myself and so I vote YAY!

(Also.... I love everything about photo #3!).

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

The sky is going to fall down. You are wearing flat oxfords.

    :)

Are you choosing between the Galaxy booties and oxfords?

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

Well I have a giant sugar eye for oxfords, but I love them on you!

  • annagybe replied 11 years ago

I really like them, but I think you should wait for for the other shoes until passing final verdict. I really like the raffia ones.

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Yay, I am glad you all like them; I am leaning toward keeping if the others don't work out.

Aida, I was thinking the same about the low-contrast - magic indeed. It is between these, the blue Danskos, and the rafia Robert Clergeries.

Angie, no, I had to return the booties for comfort reasons, but I was not ready to give up on the print. The sky really is falling - and landing on my feet!

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

    Ah. Rotten luck :(

    LOVE these flat oxfords!!

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Something tells me that if they fit and are comfy, those raffia cuties are going to make this a very tough decision. Those have your name written all over them!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Yeah, it figures that when I order a single pair they get sent back, but now that I've ordered a bunch I'm bound to want them all. o_0

  • Thistle replied 11 years ago

When it rains it pours! I do like these oxfords, but I am not really hearing love from you. I look forward to seeing the rafia shoes and, yes, the Danskos!

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

Love these on you. I like their playfulness, which is important, to my mind, to achieving the perfect UWP persona. Little bits of playful keep y'all from being "she's gonna kick my butt" scary.

I also love the raffia ones, but I'd destroy those in a season for sure --- perhaps you're easier on shoes than I am!

  • missvee replied 11 years ago

I love the oxfords too - something about the symbolism really pleases me - the idea that you've got the whole world at your feet! But they have to be comfortable too. I like the ones you have on order too - who knows, you might *need* a second pair :-)

  • Tina.b replied 11 years ago

The loafers are excellent, the shape is great and the pattern is so cool. What size are your feet if you don't mind me asking? If you remember I ordered the rose gold oxfords and wondering if my size 40 feet are going to look like golden beacons, lol. You feet look quite tiny in these considering they are loafers. Looking forward to seeing the other two pairs also!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

REALLY like these on you Rae and they definitely work with your colours. As Aida pointed out, it's kind of amazing how they appear low contrast on you. How can a galazy print act as a neutral???

Anyway...these are definitely contenders, especially because of the comfort factor. Once you get the raffia sneakers and the Danskos, then make your decision.

  • Sara L. replied 11 years ago

I really like the loafers! I don't think they make your feet look big. I understand your issue with that because that's something that concerns me when shoe shopping also. Those rafia loafers are super cute too and if it turns out they're comfortable, it could be a hard decision.

  • Janet replied 11 years ago

I agree with all of Aida's remarks! Those are fabulous on you. I like them better than the booties (!) -- I am resisting trying them myself.

  • texstyle replied 11 years ago

These really seem to fit in nicely with all you've shown so far - the raffia sneakers seem like they will be a bit pale by comparison to all this color excitement, but they also seem like they would be very cool on the feet in warm weather. And I also have a soft spot for Danskos due to their extreme comfort to my picky feet.

  • Parsley replied 11 years ago

    Love the oxfords on you!

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

These are great and very tomboy with a twist - I say keep!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Ooh, I cannot wait until tomorrow to compare shoes and decide!!

Tina, I wear I size 8.5-9.... more often 9 now that I've been doing retail a while. The oxfords I got in 39. I'm also 5'4" so sometimes my feet seem bigger because of my height. :T

  • Tina.b replied 11 years ago

Thanks Rae, that is perfect to know. They actually look surprisingly tiny for 39s, they look great on you. :)

My MIL is 5'4 and she wears an 11-12, OMG. That is why my nine year old son wears a men's size nine. My feet look comparatively small next to all of theirs.

  • lynne replied 11 years ago

I think those oxfords are giving me palpitations. You must keep them.

  • MsMary replied 11 years ago

I love them but I am also kind of loving the raffia sneakers!

  • Marley replied 11 years ago

These look great with all of your outfits - I really love them, and am considering spending some of my Christmas money on them! However, I do really love the look of the rafia sneakers too - and can't wait to see what they look like on your feet and hear how they feel on your feet! My oh my - if they both worked for me, I'd be tempted (if I could afford it) to get both and use them as my summer staple shoes all spring and summer long!

  • Mo replied 11 years ago

Not looking at responses yet. I was so-so on the galaxy boot, but love the oxford version! Keep!

  • Sarah A replied 11 years ago

While the rafia sneaks and dansko are interesting the galaxy oxfords have that not going to find anything cooler than these look (to me at least)....

ETA: Is there an easy way to navigate the Solestruck website by heel height?

  • CocoLion replied 11 years ago

I'm holding until I can see all three compared.

I do like the way these look with the bf outfit and the longer skirt.
