Bought this sweater a good while back, actually, when I was asking after citron basics. I'm hoping this baby will at least get me through another year, since my Pim & Larkin cashmere pullover is pilling so badly. I initially paired the sweater with my slouchy camo pants, but it was so nice outside that they seemed too heavy. Out came my Camerons... again. If I tracked cost-per-wear, I'm sure it'd be minuscule in no time (and hey, I never noticed before, but they have citron stitching)! Topped off with a new $1 belt.
No special outing today, just a trip to Dr. Shrink and the grocery store. But a chic woman in the parking garage elevator in Beverly Hills complimented me on my ability to wear yellow! I count that as a fashion victory. :)

Raisin replied 11 years agoYes, you do wear yellow well! Looks great with your distressed jeans.

K. Period. replied 11 years agoGorgeous, Rae! I love that sweater. It has hint of mod and a hint of Star Trek, both of which I consider fabulous. And you really do wear yellow well! Tasty Sweet Tart!

Caro in Oz replied 11 years agoHave you tried depilling your other sweater rae? I have a little machine (like a small electric razor) that works really well.

catgirl replied 11 years agoMy sweater started pilling like mad too! I love this outfit, especially those jeans. And I got the black version of that belt at the Shoptoberfest flea market visit!

replied 11 years agoI missed this sweater in the stores, it looks great on you! I am copying this look when it gets a little warmer, but with my orange sweater!

amiable replied 11 years agoLove!

Kari replied 11 years agoThat citron sweater is GREAT on you - love the color, but the cuffs/hem are especially rad.

Aida replied 11 years agoOooh how fabulous does yellow look with that denim wash!? Dig those little stripes. GREAT pairing, I think your sours will really play famously with those jeans. You look cute! I'd have complimented you, too :)

Transcona Shannon replied 11 years agoThis looks gorgeous on you - chic woman is right!

Karie replied 11 years agoLove that citron color - you look great in it!

Jaime replied 11 years agoYou look fantastic! Has anyone else noticed that yellow wearing elicits more envy than any other color?
-
Beth Ann replied 11 years agoLove the fit and silhouette here, Rae. The top seems fitted, but substantial in the weight of the knit, and that's a great combination. Do you ever have trouble with too much stretch in knits? Particularly lightweight tees? They migrate all around my body and drive me crazy --- this one is perfect, and the color is perfect for So Cal.

Thistle replied 11 years agoYou just look spectacular. So put together and so chic, not quite polished but super stylish.

hedgiehog replied 11 years agoYou do look great in yellow! I see your hair is growing out a bit too. YLF!

rachylou replied 11 years agoThis is a great outfit. It caught my eye. Simple but very striking. The bag is particularly great, btw.

Joy replied 11 years agoAdorable. The parking garage lady must have been yellow with envy.
-
Suz replied 11 years agoYou look great, Rae! Those jeans are obviously winners. And to think you debated not keeping them!

rae replied 11 years agoThank you, ladies! I guess I will continue using citron as a signature color. :) I wish BR had more in this exact shade - I also bought a silky tee.
Caro, yes, I've been depilling it every wear for a good long while now. It started to pill after only a couple wearings!
Shevia, I have noticed that. I really used to envy those in yellow, too! I thought I could not wear it. Must have been a lot of mustard out there before citron hit the stores.
Beth Ann, yes, thin tees are tricky for me. Specifically, many of them give me a weird potbelly look. I don't have the flattest tummy, but many tees highlight exactly what I don't like. It's one of the reasons I was willing to shell out for some Madewell linen tees this year.
Rachy, thank you! I may use "simple and striking" as a mantra for work outfits. Don't want to look overdone or like I can't relate to the "normals" (shout out to your recent post), but I do want to look like I know what I'm doing. -
CocoLion replied 11 years agoLove this outfit with the slim top and easier fit boyfriend jeans. What do you do with a pilled cashmere sweater? Do you have a way to rescue it? Do you toss it? Sell it? Donate?

rae replied 11 years agoDenise, I just don't know! I can't bring myself to take it out of the closet yet. I guess one day I will go to shave off some pills and there will be nothing left underneath? o_0

You look amazing! Love the citron and stripes.

Vicki replied 11 years agoSoursensational, Rae! This has to be one of my favorites and it's probably because this is YOUR color. btw, your hair is looking so gorgeous; are you using a certain gel or product to give it that sleek look? Nicely done! I'm loving it that the BH set is giving you a second well-deserved look and that "interesting" style of compliment.

ElleH replied 11 years agoGreat outfit! I loove your new belt:)
-
TylerAnne replied 11 years agoYou look great, as usual! But the sweater doesn't read as "citron" at all on my monitor (isn't citron a greenish yellow?) This sweater looks more like canary or just yellow.
-
Day Vies replied 11 years agoThis is too cute! I love the belt and of course the pairing of blue and yellow. I also love the choice of tan boots too. I'm going to copy -- not sure when but yep, I'm going to do it!

Mona replied 11 years agoOh this is a great fashion victory, Rae! I actually had my eyes on this sweater from BR for the longest time but I am saving money for a leather jacket and trench coat so did not want to buy any more sweaters.
You wear citron beautifully. I will enjoy this on you vicariously. -
rae replied 11 years agoVicki, yes I have used something different, and thank you for noticing! It is called Maxius Beyond Straight. I think it was meant to be used with my flat iron, but even though I have not been straightening, the product helps things stay sleek and not poofy. TylerAnne, it is a very brigjt, greenish yellow in real life. :-) Day Vies, I would love to see your version!

About
I'm just your average working stiff who loves nice things and hates to pay for them. This blog outlines my efforts to navigate that treacherous shopping/saving divide through swappin', thriftin', and even a little resellin'. Many of the pieces in my wardrobe cost me just $1! We've heard a lot about people "living above their means" in recent years; I'm championing the concept of living large *below* your means - whatever that means for you. :)
