Wearing the Same Old Things: Bootcuts and Blue

Took advantage of free day at the tar pits museum and wanted to enjoy this precious time with my F/W clothing before the temperatures heat up this year. These are heavy, 100% cotton bootcut jeans (bought in Japan in 2006!) paired with This Year's Favorite Jacket, my Lululemon Run Bundle Up.

I am still amazed that I can wear a partially-down-filled jacket indoors and out without feeling uncomfortable. Mind: boggled. Also, who knew that silver snake print would go with everything in my closet? Hello, favoured neutral!

Bonus pics from the museum - I was pleased with the amount of cat-related exhibits. >^..^<

Bundle Up jacket - Lululemon
velvet leopard tee - Zara
men's belt - flea market
Nine West bag - flea market
destroyed, double-waist jeans - Japan
Fergie Major boots - Nordies

Those jeans are so great on you. Wear them often while you can! You look chic and comfie. And I need to visit that museum some day!

These gear jackets look terrific on you! I need a rain jacket, but I always fall into frumpsville when I shop for all-weather coats. I need your fashionable touch!

I lived in LA for 4 years, but never made it to the tar pits or the observatory. Maybe someday!

Way cool!! Both you and the museum.

You look AMAZING. I think I need bootcuts like those so I don't feel quite so classic in mine.

love the bootcuts... I always will. I guess you are on a museum circuit over there? Not too shabby, at all.

The jeans aren't dated at all. And isn't it great to have a jacket that functions AND flatters equally well?

I'm thinking those jeans would look cool with a longer coat / jacket too. Kind of like this outfit. Or with a knee-length cardi.

ETA: what to do with my boot cut/flares that feels new has been on my mind... curious if others have any ideas as well.

Ooh, Denise, I like that photo! Hm, maybe my orchid trench or Barbour jacket? I don't have many things that length because I have a hard time fitting them over my backside. Weird, because I don't really have this problem with longer coats.

Oh, forgot to answer the question... I have lots of bootcuts and was pondering this, too. Oversized tee? Long, oversized hoodie? We should experiment. :)

Denise & Rae, I have a bunch of bootcut/ flare looks saved . Here they are:

You look great, Rae! I adore those bootcuts. The jacket is great, too - wish I had something like that. I totally suck at finding stylish gear wear.

Zap, you've made me realize how fab bootcuts can be. I tried to pick a favorite, but it was too hard. #11 is really good, though!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Ooh, I love the LM and RL (?) ones!

  • CocoLion replied 11 years ago

Zap! Thank you for the inspiration! I love #6.

I look on my Pinterest and found these. Rae what about #5 with your Tokyo ripped jeans?

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Ooh, I like that, too. I have a slouchy lime cowl... it is short-sleeved but should have a similar effect. I have dark wash destroyed jeans, too. Might be easier to layer over those since they don't have the double-waistband.

Maybe we should have a Bootcuts Challenge?

You look fab. I love that jacket and I'm so happy to hear you've gotten a lot of use out of it. Good idea to wear your F/W things....I noticed weeds sprouting in my xeriscape yesterday. Spring is in the air!

Great casual outfit - like the museum shot.

  • Thistle replied 11 years ago

You look fab in the "same old things".

So nice when a 7 year old pair of pants is still so stylish (and, erm, still fit!)

  • jayne replied 11 years ago

Great casual outfit there. I love me some ripped jeans

The museum takes me back....went there with my husband the year we lived in Mohave desert...the first year we were married. The museum left an impression. Also loved that place on the hilltop with the planetarium from the 50's? Gee cannot remember the name anymore!

Ooh those are sweet jeans! I think for you, Rae, it'd work very nicely to use your more steampunky or obviously tomboyish pieces to make an outfit... that just happens to have bootcuts in them. I usually wear my flares with my more boho looks but you don't quite have that streak in your style ;) I also like to wear mine with slouchy sweaters, moto jackets, and oversized silk shirts (semi-tucked with a rugged belt of course). Long cozy cardigans also work surprisingly well, in a 90s gunge sort of way.
