WIW: Dress-perado (for JulieJohn!)

In my previous "Desert Desperado" post, JuliJohn challenged me to do a "dress-perado" interpretation as well. Well, due to the extreme heat, job interviews, orientations at Dress for Success, and well... not leaving the house otherwise, I hadn't been able to do it. Today, the schedule and weather aligned, and I was able to finally answer the call.

This is a drop-waist dress I obtained from one of our own YLF swap parties layered underneath my Hinge Urban Warrior Poncho. I paired those with my MIA foldover boots and a suede hobo - because nothing says cowboy like suede (at least in my mind). I had thought to wear either my bullet or skull necklace, but they seemed to compete with the cowl neckline. Instead, I strapped on my chunky cat photo watch and called it a day. I think the looseness of the top and dress, plus the earthy leather accessories, helped give off the vibe I was looking for.

What do you think? Challenge met? Please excuse the camera dot on pic #3...

Hinge poncho - flea market
Black dress - YLF swap party
Kenneth Cole suede hobo - flea market ($4!)
MIA Buckaroo boots - Amazon
Cat watch - DIY

Pardner - you'd come out tops in any show-down!

It's fun and funky. I like it.

I like this! I would probably have added a big conch belt too :)

Oh YEAH! You rose to that challenge and kicked its caboose! I am so proud to have inspired such a great look.

You combined literal tough-hombre items like the boots with subtler touches like the black poncho. Ooooo-E !!!

Yaay! It is different from my norm, so I'm stoked that it worked out.

O, I did feel great. Western is alllmost classic in my eyes, so I did not feel too far off the reservation.

Ceit, I actually do own a conch belt! I used to wear it all the time back during my Guns N' Roses period. I'm going to try that next time. :)

Julie - yeehaw! Always happy to do the inspiration justice. Thank you so much for giving me the idea - I got some nice compliments at the chiropractor's office. :D

This is fun! I think we should all try issuing challenges to other YLFers and see what mayhem ensues. Rae, I love this look on you almost as much as I love the pun!
