WIW: Warming Up with Rust, Turquoise and Citron

It doesn't *quite* feel like Spring in SoCal, what with the rain, wind, and lingering cold - but we're kind of sick of dark Winter clothes.

#1 is a variation of what I wore to visit MaryK and borrow her warmies - I wore my Scottvest trench to test it in the rain, but I later swapped out for this Three Dots hoodie, because it seemed to go better with the Heed hi-low hem sweater.

#2 is for work today. These J. Crew cords are inexplicably tighter than the brown ones from Friday, even though they are the same size. I'm wearing them anyway as a reminder to be good!

Great outfits, Rae. I'm amazed at how chic you can make a hoodie look. I think you fall into the "even looks good in a sack" category : ) Love the citron peeking out of the sweater in 2. Just perfect x's 2!

I love both outfits! And the map bag is awesome :D

Gosh Rae, your legs look a mile long in outfit #1! And I absolutely adore your kitty cat looking up at you! Too cute. The turqoise bag is the perfect touch with this outfit.

I love the collar of the citron blouse peeking out in outfit #2 and the pairing of the map bag (a fave of mine) with the boots, is brilliant!

You always look beautiful! So sleek in those boots and I LOVE the citron shirt peeking out of the sweater in pic #2.

Both fab outfits, Rae. Especially loving the bags! That pop of turquoise really brightens up outfit 1. I have a similar color bag and you have inspired me to use it today when I head out in the snow! Where is Spring?

So ironic. For the last week we've been in a heat wave in Chicago. So warm that my new Spring jackets sit there waiting for me! Meanwhile, you're dressing like a very fab Chicagoan! You look great, Rae, so glad you get to keep wearing your boots!

Kelly, this is the only hoodie that survived the YLF Great Hoodie Purge, which commenced shortly after joining the site. I think the cut and seaming give it some more structure than normal hoodies so that it is much less "sweat suit" like.

Shannon, you can see from the pic that Hank is cracking me up! He never fails to show up and inspect my outfit of the day, so I try not to crop him out of the pics. I don't know *what* he gets out of it as a cat, but he must be getting something.

Carole, Spring will be on your arm today!

Beth Anne... seriously, what is wrong with the weather lately? I'm happy you are getting some warm temps - at least someone is. And it sounds like you are prepared and ready! :)

Holy smokes Rae....you look amazing, especially in #1! As Shannon pointed out...your legs look a mile long. Your hair is so glossy and I love the rust & black combo, with a zing of turquoise.

I thought I had J. Crew sizing figured out but I got thrown for a loop yesterday when I tried on a pair of their cropped matchsticks. I was swimming in the 6 and had to size down to a 2!!! Unbelievable! (Didn't get the pants...I'll never find a pair of cropped pants that satisfy me...ugh.)

You looked super, super fab on Saturday! I actually happened to LOVE the rust colored trench, but the hoodie looks fab, too! And it was so fun to see my former orphan turquoise bag in such a loving new home!!

The citron shirt peeking out of the neutral sweater is just fantastic!

Two very nice outfits. I really like the turqoise bag to brighten the first outfit. I also love the atlas bag. How interesting.

It bugs me that two items the same size and style can be so different in fit. I was told it was because the machinery is set for the size and "loosens up" throughout the batch so the first of the batch is smaller than the last. I somehow doubt that now that I think it over since most machinery has been converted to more modern equipment.

I love your peeps of color among the neutrals -- great way to hasten Spring!

Dianthus, how interesting about the machinery! Though you would think that, even if it was the machinery loosening up, someone might take a second to tune it up halfway through... I sort of understand different fabrics and washes, too, but these are both corduroy. o_0

Sunita, I had the same problem. The cords fit me great when they fit, so one of the first places I looked for dress pants was J. Crew - total crotch point mayhem. Not to mention their penchant for cropped lengths.

Mary, I think the turquoise bag is coming to Italy! I have to make sure that I can fit a layer in there, but I loved it with the paprika trench. :)
