Blogger & Jacket Challenge Day 13: Rust Suede

Soooo tired. 9 hours from the time I left for Dress for Success to the time I arrived home and was able to eat. Missed the last bus. Transfered to wrong train. Couldn't treat myself to Korean BBQ like I'd planned. But at least I'm happy with my blogger challenge outfit!

I initially planned to wear my white linen dress with opaque black tights... but the weather is messing with me again and jumped up 20 degrees to 80 today. The white dress was not work appropriate sans tights, so here I am with black and white stripes instead.

Jacket challenge status? This one is definitely staying. It's definitely a piece to wear over dresses, not pants, but I felt fab and comfortable in it all day with my clients. Moved well, wasn't sweaty, brightened up my face without being a "bright" color. Sounds good to me!

This look looks great! Love the striped dress, jacket, boots, everything...

Oh that IS a long day! Well, at least you had a great outfit on to cheer you. I love the booties with your bare legs and that rust colored jacket is indeed a keeper!

  • Janet replied 11 years ago

You wear that color well. I love the way the yellow bag brightens everything up too.

    Rest up!

Love this jacket paired with this dress and the booties - they all play so well together. And then you add a pretty pop of yellow - genius!

Sorry you missed your Korean barbecue :(

I hope you have a better day today! Your outfit was great anyway. I love the black/white stripes and the rust jacket.

Love this jacket for you and it looks really great with the dress!

Super fab! And I swear, yellow handbags are magic! They make any outfit extra-special!

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Rae, do you have a backup pair of the Reports? I remember you saying you had serious wear on those....and you NEED another pair! They look so spectacular on you. For some reason they are even more flattering to your foot and leg shape than they are to many others, (IMO). They look fab with this jacket.

So sorry you had a long day; hope you get some rest.

You look amazing with the fab jacket and striped dress and perfect booties! And I do agree with you about certain jackets going only with dresses and not pants, I have a couple that work the other way too and am so frustrated because I really like these jackets but I can't switch them around often enough, unless I add a longer shirt on the jeans or a belt on the dress, whichever the case might be!

My stomach is growling for you, Rae. Poor thing. Love your version and that is an awesome jacket. The yellow bag gives such a nice pop to the outfit. I agree with Suz, the Report booties were made for you. Fantastic look.

    Love.

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Thank you, ladies! What nice comments to wake up to!

Suz, I have a second pair of the Reports in sand.... but I'm thinking I want to replace these in the luggage color as well before they disappear. The luggage seems to work better in colder weather. What do you think?

  • Preppy Pear replied 11 years ago

I love the stripes with the leather and the jacket and the bag are especially fab!

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

I think you NEED them in this colour, Rae. Absolutely. This one is more fall/winter worthy. And it works with an awful lot of your outfits. Go for it!

  • Astrid replied 11 years ago

Awesome outfit! That jacket looks great on you and it's all the better if it is really comfy. The striped dress is also fab and I really like the bright yellow of the bag with the other colors.

  • Parsley replied 11 years ago

    What a great combination!
It's funny how it can seem so obvious that those neutrals would work together, but yet I probably wouldn't have thought to put the rust jacket with the black & white stripes.

I like your version way more than your inspiration pic, and I'd like to copy yours myself!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Junebud, I hear you! I have jackets that don't work the other way around as well. Part of what makes me a jacket addict!

Suz, I went ahead and ordered the replacement luggage color - I had some Amazon points, so I only paid $18 - can't say no to that. Thanks for the push!

Parsley, a lot of women I talk to at DFS and at work don't like to mix neutrals, too. Maybe my mind is overly literal - when I hear "neutral" I really feel uninhibited because I feel like, hey, they couldn't clash if they wanted to... they are neutral! lol

  • N-Marie replied 11 years ago

Wow, that's a gorgeous outfit! And that jacket looks fantastic- well done!

  • Day Vies replied 11 years ago

I love your look much better. There is something about the stripe with your jacket that is so appealing to me. It's the structure of the jacket and the stripes but the dress looks like its made of a drape-y material like knit jersey. Very NICE. The yellow bag just makes it extra interesting.

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

Glad to read this is definitely staying. I also love the dress on you. The whole outfit is one of your best (along with lots of good company).

  • marianna replied 11 years ago

That dress is sensational on you. The whole outfit is simply killer!

  • Thistle replied 11 years ago

You look so good in that dress! I really like the jacket and boots with it, and the pop of color from the bag is perfect.

I think you look better than the blogger that inspired your outfit!

  • Joy replied 11 years ago

I'm loving every detail of this outfit. It's also ageless. I'd wear this in a heartbeat.

  • annagybe replied 11 years ago

Welcome to my world. I catch the bus at 6:59 am, get home at 7:30pm. Trader Joe's nut trail mixes save me from becoming a ravenous *****. Trader joe's also sells pre-portioned almonds that I keep in my desk in case I get stuck at work.
    Nice outfit.

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Oof, that is a smart thing to do, Anna. I actually did have some Joe's hazelnuts... in my car. -_- Will be holding those in my bag from now on!

  • JR replied 11 years ago

I just got hit with a wave of nostalgia. I had a black and white diagonal striped dress that I wore on my honeymoon... *sniff*

Love your interpretation with the rust suede. I am really loving that colour combination this year.

  • Freckles replied 11 years ago

Stunning outfit Rae. I love suede jackets and adore rust so combining the two is just perfect. The striped dress, yellow bag and luggage coloured booties are so divine with this.

Glad to hear you are replacing the booties in this colour.
